[quote=“snejdarek, post:29, topic:18193”]The whole Catholic church stands for two millienia on the idea that one can reach deliverance only through the body of the church, and all who are not part of it will be deniend access to heaven.

…part of such a suspicion comes from a sociological understanding of the Church…That idea is due to the influence of some counter-reformation theologians, like St Robert Bellarmine. Medieval theologians did not see the Church mainly at the sociological level: they saw her as the impact of Christ’s grace in human lives. As this grace is offered to all, Thomas Aquinas could say that, somehow, all human beings of all times belong to the church, because all at least are invited to salvation. –Bishop Charles Morerod, O.P. bishop of Lausanne, Genève and Fribourg, The Church and the human Quest for Truth pg.138

Mostly every saint throughout history, and especially saints of the period, called for personal holiness.

Really my main hope for this game is that, in addition to being an excellent simulation, it can somehow see this time period through the lens of moderate realism and with the careful distinctions philosophy and theology are due! Rather than the brute revisions we are usually proffered and expected to believe are accurate reflections of the High Middle Ages.

Based on the sheer size of Dan Vávra’s beard I think he’s read a lot about the subject, hopefully we get something good!

Very nice and clean, glad to see you’re making progress! I’m sure most of us don’t mind if you release a little late, take your time on making the game as nice as you can ^_^\

That is true, but at the same time, all these people were preaching for closer relation with the church and they were not challenging it. Hus was preaching that church is corrupted to the level that one is more likely to reach deliverance on their own than through the body of church.

In fact Hus wasn’t some divine inspired preacher / prophet. His thoughts and sermons were based on his studies and the common atmosphere of the medieval universities. He simply quoted The New Testament and based his sermons on Christ himself rather than on few centuries of theological (which means in the age of Aquinas primarily political) struggle. (This is of course highly simplifying.) It could be argued that Christ himself would eagerly reject the Church claims and prech for personal morality and individual connection with god.

Hus was also somewhat predecessed by italian heretics such as Dolcino and Saint Francis of Assisi and surely many other persons.

I suppose his murder and martyrdom was rather political. Hus was supported by Wenceslaus the IV. and Sigismund simply used this rather awkward situation.

I strongly agree that the period atmosphere should be portraited in a rather more complex and elaborate way. I prefer Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie and Umberto Eco to - well, your common period fiction.

LOL This should be under the “What I DONT want KC:D to be” !

Maybe, but the movie is in fact quite good (as well as the book, which portrays Charles the Bold and Louis XI rather well). I should probably admit that it is one of my childhood favourites so my judgement could be little affected.

They’re really not even at the point of dealing with voice acting. Quests and dialogue are still being written. Once all that’s done, the voice acting itself will become more important.

What do you mean, then? Just because they hit the goal doesn’t mean they’re at the point of hiring all of their voice actors yet.

most people think nolan north is a good voice actor, so i don’t think a discussion of who would be a “better” va would be very fruitful.
