Video Update #10 and Tech Alpha Update 0.3

So what do you think?

SHIT FUCK CUNT ASSHOLE MOTHERFUCKER ASS

Just checking whether the harsh language that will be in the game is acceptable here or whether there will be double standards.

As regards the video:

Nice hearing Dan, but too much “talking head” and too little footage from the development in the studio. Otherwise, let’s see alpha 3.0.

And why not being sure about being present at the battle of nations? Shouldn’t there be at least 4 team members with cameras in the corners obligatorily? Or do you have enough footage of real medieval fights already?

And how is Bakala with bankrolling the whole thing considering the quite large delay? That’s gonna cost a lot of money, huh?

The more i hear about and learn about this game the more excited it get. Everything looks great. Can’t wait to try out the lock picking. The stealth sounds awesome along with everything else Dan talked about. Don’t worry about delaying it take all the time you need. Its always better to take your time on something than rush it out the door like so many other companies do with games theses days. Keep up the great work.

About the Video Update

Big Alpha with combat system  and bigger map in 3 month YES  !!
I’d rather have a nice game released summer or fall 2016 instead of a poor game in winter 2015 (Give us some KCD beer to apologize Btw I love the design) .

About alpha tech 0.3

Except one game crash in the first 10 minutes, I only saw good things (maybe still a few strange visuals with Henry’s hairs and the arrow thing) :

  • A lot of community feed-back had been addressed (i.e : I now see
farmers holding hoes when they go to the fields, the are not popping
    them out of nowhere).
  • Playing this game with voices even if they are place-holders is much
    more of an immersion.
  • I am fine with the way they implemented lock picking. Maybe the sweet
spot should vary a bit (it was the same place every time so far).
  • I am not happy because now my arrows bounce off people instead of
    putting them down :frowning:

All in all

Keep up the good work

This update is great! Very excited about the next update with combat. I love all the fixes you guys added to this current update. I’m actually glad to hear that you guys will be delaying the release of this game. Waiting longer for a better game is better than getting a buggy game early. Mid 2016 is ok for me knowing that you guys are trying to deliver a better game for us. One more thing… I know Dan said the voiceovers are not final… but… please do not use those voiceovers! They are terrible in my opinion. Henry’s voice in the very first demo video was much better. The voices should sound more European as well. I’m from the U.S., and I do not want to hear my accent in this game at all! It ruins the immersion in my opinion. Tell everyone on the team I say thank you!!

Sounds good to me. Already expected a delay which seems to be the “norm” in video games since AC Untiy…

Take the time you need. The game will only benefit from that.

And I love the things you’ve planned for the next months. Can’t wait for the E3 alpha version with combat. And of course I can’t wait for the beta at the end of the year then.

I also like the lockpick and stealth mechanics though I hope that stealth won’t break the game’s “economy” by making the player too rich. Dialogues seem a bit weird right now without lip-synch. For temporal stuff the voice overs are quite solid but without lip-synch it’s just weird. And the main character still looks like some kind of zombie without facial and eye animations…

Short: go on, take your time and do your thing. I think you’re on the right path.

Although i agree they are not the best keep in mind they are only temporary. They are just there for testing purposes. Im sure they will have Europeans do the final voice acting, I think they even mentioned Sean Bean at one point.

@warhorse don’t worry if have to relase final version in the middle of 2016, I’ll wait! But remember one thing:
More time for publishing it means more expectations for it!
Good work and good luck to all of you!

One question @TobiTobsen: Do you guys only plan to attend E3 or also Gamescom this year? Will you have your own booth or will you share it with others or just being present there without a booth?

I just started the game but I’m already very glad you guys fixed the LOD of the objects shadows. I remember on the previous alpha the shadow of the ladder on the roof was clipping when you got too far and it was a bit disturbing but now there’s a nice blur and the transition is much cleaner  it’s the little details…

Both of course!

With our own Booth but in the business area!

And yeah the Voices… they are really just test ones!

@TobiTobsen i have a question. When he said that you are planing on releasing the game in sections does that mean you will release part of the story and then release the next part a few months later? Or was he just referring to patches for the beta?

I don’t know what you mean!

But:

Beta --> the first few minutes of the full game probably! (something like a Demo)
KC:D --> Act 1, Act 2 and Act 3 … three seperate but conected games! :slight_smile:

I guess i’m just hearing things

Oh I hope the beginning of the game will have the same hype as Blood and keep pace as Crank (the movie). I really wish I would play a game that will make me remember the opening sequences as much as Blood did. And considering the shit Henry comes through at the beginning, it should be doable pretty well also in KCD.

Awesome! Just bought my gamescom trade visitor ticket. See you in August

I think the update is great!
Havent got the time to play it but I sure will do later this evening.
I think the Shop will turn out good, too. You even have your own beer now? Nice xD

The Delay is a good thing imo, take the time you need it doesnt matter if the game comes out in mid 2016. Some months delay are not the issue and I think you got the support of the community in that point.

Like @LordCrash said, I think you’re on the right path, keep on doing things like you do.
Already excited for the next (big) update

Delay isnt problem and please, do not let Dan pour ash on his head. What would his family think of him if he came home like htat…

The lockpick minigame is good. Im mostly interest play as thief (as I allways do) and I like that you actually have to use both hands. Clever! But to be honest I fell like it needs something more to it. But that perhaps becouse I open all locks without any problem… and maybe the difficulty option Dan talked about will fix it for me (like if the sweetspot can only be found by sound without the yellow dot and need LMB holding… etc.).

The voiceover, even as placeholder, is already great improvement!

And yeah, reeeaaallly looking for combat update :- )

P.S. Will there be videoupdates before next alpha ?
