Virtually Impossible to complete vipers nest, dressed up as a Cuman, I get attacked if I get seen at a massive distance by a Cuman. Is this a bug? Because I’ve dressed up as all types of Cumans and there is barely any dialogue either, straight to attack. Tried daytime and nightime, reduced noise to 0 and everything.
Another thing is that when I do get dialogue, this guy will speak to me, whatever I tel him works he sits back down, then gets up and decides to attack me??
Just now aswell it was nigh time, I was hiding in a bush far away watching a Cuman walk by and he saw me…???
As far as i know, you need to be not wearing any clothes that is not cuman
yeah i’m finding even that isnt working. my idea was this. sneak in, stealth kill one cuman, strip him completely. Stick everything i was wearing onto my horse and wear only the stolen gear, no one saw it.
the result? the cumans are something akin to far cry 1-esq enermies. they see through me immediately and i have no idea why. Cuman attire? (check…everything says cuman on it.) cuman weapons? (check… stole them off a dead guy and theyre clean)… cuman helm?..(yup visor down and everything)
Yup I did everything you did and had the same outcome! got through it eventually but didn’t manage to posion both cauldrons and set fire to all the arrows or kill a few Cumans.
A disguise isn’t an option I believe for this. Just either use stealth by wearing all black and soft shoes. Or just raid this place solo like I did.
impressive
I wore cuman set from one I killed patrolling at night and then walked around with a torch equipped. A few stopped and asked something, I just growled, or coughed and they ignored me. Eventually only speech check is left which i failed and the guy attacked me.
Oh neat! Nice to know.
I didn’t complete any of the optional quests to that quest and did it first try… But my character was extremely prepared and specialized.
I was level 12 and had high Strength and Vitality. Sword/Defense were both 11+.
I also had Heavy Swing, Savage, and Brute perks active so I had a +3 strength modifier with 20% more damage from Heavy Swing… Add Harold Sword into the mix and I was one shotting people in full plate to the head…
I countered runt and saw an opening to his unprotected head and one shotted him too even!
When I started killing them solo at night, they respawned shortly afterwards with their dead body disappearing. I see you’re playing on the Xbox whereas im on the PC.
Now I’d like to say something quite critical but it’s for the progression of the game. While I was fighting with the army against these bandits, I was constantly having issues with the lock on system. What tends to happen is that you go for the guy you’re trying to hit from behind, but the guy next to him steps in front and so you lock onto him Fanboys will justify this by saying that the AI was programmed to do that. As the fights are a mosh pit, it just so happens that one will unintentionally get in the way and so you lose your target. Im also finding that a lot of the time, the target is over half off the screen. This lock system in combat is limiting my choice how to fight. Typically the response would be, git gud, but it’s more productive to address these issues in order to progress the game.
In theory, the lock combat system works quite well. You’re one on one with the opponent and it’s a duel. In practice, it’s not working so well but I think the lock system was implemented in order to make up for the AIs possible shortcomings in a freeform combat system.
Another 2 things I want to mention is that, firstly, everytime I get hit I seem to be staggering and dazed. This doesn’t actually happen in real life as frequently as it happens in the game as your senses are heightened, you’re full of adrenaline and when you do get hit, the immediate reaction is to move away from the target. However, when you get hit in KCD, you tend to stagger and daze within the targets vicinity. Last thing I want to say is that this game has unavoidable boss battles. For a game with such an emphasis on choice, Im surprised they felt it was a good thing to force boss battles on the player. You’re locked in an arena with the boss and can’t use any other trickery or approach it any differently other than to stand and fight. I think it would be better to give the player a choice as to whether they want to face the boss and how they do so, especially if the player isn’t interested in combat but the more subtle ways of dismantling someone.
There are surely ways they can improve combat further.
I completed this quest. I reloaded back to the beginning when I first discovered the encampment. I kill many bandits and cumans in their sleep, leaving only those guarding the entrances into the camp alive. I poison the cauldrons and set fire to the arrows. When we attacked the camp, we were dealing with the exact same number of enemies and archers and archer ammo as when I first played this quest and didn’t initially go in and kill as many bandits as i could. The game definitely needs to advise you a bit more on how you can do these things that you want to do and
There clearly are certain actions that you take which trigger scripts. But we have no idea if we’ve triggered the scripts that we want. The script I wanted was less bandits at the camp. The script others in this thread wanted was to disguise themselves as a fellow cuman. We have no idea how to do these things and if we’ve done it successfully. It’s just a guessing and reloading game.
Also due to the combat system, Runt was impossible to kill with sword and shield. So I shot him with 3 arrows instead and he died.
I poked Runt twice to kill him, lmao. I’m olanning to poke the bald German dude once to kill
You can kill him easy with longsward. He has no helmet so I just onehitted him.
Firstly: if your dressed as a Cuman make sure your sword is out if not then your FACE WILL BE VISIBLE as the faceplate is open. Also make sure you have the full outfit on and no other bits of non Cuman clothing or weapons/shield on.
Secondly: Talking to cumans will only get you so far as long as speech is high enough you can have a max of 3 conversations before being discovered on the fourth.
And you only find this out through reloading your save over and over until you figured it out. It’s not a bad thing to hold players hands. Some people shy away from that as they feel it takes away from the realism and makes the game easy.
That place is bugged as hell. I’ve spend several hours trying to complete additional quests in stealth mode (20\20\0) at night ofc. Each time 1 of guards came from the opposite side of the village and combat began. No difference how far he was from a poisoned cauldron. So the game made me kill every1 there.
Good idea crappy implementation. As 2 many features in KCD.
P.S. 1 hitted all of them even with the most crappy ingame longsword cause my stats are 20 =((
