@Warhorse: I'm Putting down the pitchfork

Ya, I don’t know. When I look at what programmers do it just makes my eyes roll into the back of my head. I guess I’ll have to take your word for it for now.

Don’t have to be a programmer to understand software change management and computer system validation

Regression testing is the idea that when you make a change you can break something else so you re-test to verify the other things are still ok. Now, with complex software, nobody re-tests everything. So you make a risk assessment. What’s likely to have been changed in a way that could corrupt performance?

This is where immaturity and inexperience of process can rear its head. You are new to ‘stuff’ (engine/code/etc) so you’re less likely to guess correctly where problems are. You don’t test. You don’t catch the problem and a new bug appears.

Change control is another issue. You want to make sure you’re rolling out the right stuff. When you have many testers and developers working together, it can get confusing what is the final product. If you aren’t careful, you can implement bogus or outdated script and/or reference data. There’s a tool called a traceability matrix many use in software validation (especially medical device software by regulatory expectation) to make sure only the right stuff gets into production. Again, when the process is immature and inexperienced (and sometimes undocumented/ill defined), mistakes can be made in the go live implementation steps. This appears to have happened at least 2 times with KCD.

You strike me as the type of guy who needs a pop up picture book and study time to find a lady’s little man in the canoe. I’m sorry I said that to you, its just I’m tired of saying the same thing to you in different ways. Seriously though, turning off my phone now because I can’t stop responding to this circus show.

@Indylux Many rational people can accept a small delay if it means they get something in return. You don’t like delay but are unable to articulate what that means. The problem is you.

You strike me as hypocritical, naive, emotionally overcharged

I don’t think they know how to fix the game breaking bugs.

I am beginning to believe that they don’t have the skills to learn how to fix them.

I think the “patches” are just stuff they intended on releasing anyway. Easter eggs at Easter sounds like something they had ready for release anyway… I bet the beard and haircut thing was DLC that they decided to offer as a broken “Patch” and then tack on “Oh, and 200 bugs fixed!”

I doubt they know how to fix, or can figure out how to fix, any of the stuff that really matters…

@DantedellaBroadway I hope you’re wrong for our sake and theirs

There’s an obvious perception problem. In the survey yesterday, about a fifth of the respondents said they wouldnt buy the next installment based on current experience and sentiment. It’s not doomsday but somebody at WH needs to not just hear but listen, and then respond in kind

If you look at the pc 1.42 threads, they all seam pretty happy with the current build. You might be right about xbone though. there is just no way to make the home console preform as well as the dev. kits. Microsoft will have to share the blame for that though.

Granted Dunia and the WHish CryEngine aren’t the same, FC5 doesn’t bomb on XB(1), does it?

I have looked at those threads… I am not as optimistic as you, i suppose.

xbone was designed primarily for first person shooters. Its all the other stuff that KCD has going on under the hood that it can’t handle.

What do you play on Justin?

ps4 slim…

Personally… as a ps4 owner… a game like this one has had me wondering if I should just stop buying new games.

It seems to me like designers are making too much game for the system. Granted… I haven’t had this issue before… I pretty much only use my machine for Rocksmith and Skyrim.

But… I’m contemplating either putting gaming aside until something like a PS6 comes out, or whatever happens at that point.

If this is “acceptable” as far as a console game is concerned… I’m going to give the scene some time to work itself out so that this sort of thing isn’t “acceptable” anymore.

I’m not all grumpy about the money… Hell… $60… I’ve spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on this game just hunting shit in the woods since my wife bought it for me on valentines day… I could care less about being able to finish the main quest line. The game is great… as broken as it is.

I just get annoyed at the missed potential. I would have really loved being able to play the whole game as it was intended to be played.

Might have to just sit back for a while and wait.

Whats been your experience with bugs and crashes. My first play through was a little rough but once I started over on 1.3 I’ve had very few issues.
By not being able to complete the main quest line, do you mean the next chapter or are you stuck somewhere?

I’ve started over like, 10, 12 times…

I’ve hit most of the general main quest bugs folks bitch about… and instead of just not playing until it’s fixed… i’ve started over… several times I’ve deleted the whole game and all save files and re-downloaded all the patches… to start over… I even deleted everything from my PS4 (cause, honestly, I don’t care about old games I no longer play, and I can always re-download all the rocksmith songs I bought), and defragged the drive as suggested by one of the guys here… and started over… I get this slow motion thing after a while of playing (twice now)… and I get the slow, break down of the game the longer you play it thing…

The thing that really gets me… is it just seems so random… some bugs hit me early in the game… and I’m like, “damn” but then i avoid that shit the next playthrough, and they hit me later in the game… for no particular reason.

I mean… it is what it is…

The closest I’ve gotten to finishing the game was when I almost got to the epilogue scene with the folks at rattay… but I got a neverending load screen… so I just said fuckit and watched it on youtube.

The most f’cked up thing about it all is that I wanna start over a new game right now… cause it’s sooooo fun…

And if warhorse said, “hey, broken act 2… ready right now… $60…” I’d throw money at them… and try to figure out a way around all the bugs…

A proportionate point of view… refreshing to see

Lol Wut???

What special brand of sugar coated, gillyweed infused crack you been trippin on Boo?

So I guess Danny has been lying to us about the $30M it cost to make this game? Or–by his own admission–the 500,000 copies (translation: $30 MILLION+) in sales of which Steam PC gamers alone made a record sale of 300,000 sold copies (aka $18M in profits alone) in that 1st record breaking 48 hours of game release??? Which implies they made far more money in that first week??

WH STUDIOS HAS WHOPPING PILES OF LEFT OVER DEAD PRESIDENTS BECAUSE OF THEIR EARLY RELEASE MARKETING SCAM THAT THEY SUCKERED PLAYERS INTO BUYING AS A $60 AAA TITLE. LMFAOoooo…

Wow…the worst that’s happened to me recently is when I completed Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing the stuff in my chest disappeared. So I bought another bed and my stuff was in the chest. Now its hit and miss as to whether there will be anything in one of my chests.
But sometimes I wonder if people are misinterpreting things.
For example in the above mentioned quest the huntsman can end up pacing back and forth in his yard if you don’t do everything correctly. Should they give you a quest failed indicator? Sure, but It’s not a bug in the quest line the way some people think it is.

Holt… look man… I get it… you have issues and all… but… I’ve been sitting here watching tv after I posted a note on this thread like… I don’t know… an hour ago? and I’ve seen your name at the bottom of the screen… “Holt Bathgate is replying to this comment” and an hour later… and that’s it?

Dude… I was so excited.

I thought… man… this must be like… 8 pages of awesome shit to read.

Take some damn typing lessons man.

So why are they releasing patches if the game is running so well? Oh yeah it must be just those pesky quest bugs, borked texture steaming and CTDs the unfortunate 2% are getting.
