Warhorse now should really concentrate on releasing mod tools and here is why

I don’t think this requires much justification but since it has been some time since WH updated us on mod tools release I decided to compile a list of why they should maximize their efforts in that direction.

  1. It will help fix the game and will definetely save Warhorse some money. Since releasing and certifying patches(on consoles at least) takes a lot of effort and costs money, releasing modding tools will guarantee creation of community patches that will undoubtedly improve the game and increase customer satisfaction.

  2. Releasing mod tools would ensure game’s lasting popularity and has potential to increase its sales drastically, especially in the long run. Why do you think people still buy and play Skyrim today(daily number of players exceed that of KCD by the way)? No, not because of wonderful(not) story. It’s because it is a sandbox that can be heavily moded, creating a near unique player experience every time you play.

  3. It will enrich gaming experience. How many valid suggestions have been made on this forum alone? Things that developers just didn’t have time to add or simply overlooked them. Mods can improve every aspect of this already wonderful game and make it an all time masterpiece.

So I call on you, Daniel Vavra, as a veteran of gaming industry you should know or at least estimate potential incomes that are able to be generated with modding tools. Make them versatile and make them able to change many aspects of the game. There is probably matter of Cryengine not wanting to let their engine be modified by average users, but you should really use your every speech and charisma option to persuade them. Promise them extra money for every copy sold. Ask your investor to throw in couple of groschen as well. You know it will all be worth it.

Time is precious, Daniel. With each passing day, interest in this incredible game decreases, potential revenue as well. You should act decisively and better yesterday and release modding tools.

One thing to remember : Warhorse DOES NOT OWN cryengine.
It leases it. Therefore any tinkering or release of tools to mod the engine itself has to be ok’d by Cryenginge’s owner with doubts on that happening soon.
Thus complicating the mod tools question

Which is exactly why I suggested doing everything to make Cryengine’s bosses to ok this, including possibly paying them extra and finding appropriate balance between allowing changes to the engine and at the same time respecting other company’s intellectual property.

Don’t know if WH has the pockets or even inclination but FC-ish map editor (available also on console) would be a really nice start. yes, FC5’s Dunia is a redone CryEngine; think analogy

As it is mine, Crytek should have an incentive to give some here… the more games and gamers/modders using their engine (even if customized), the better it is for them

Well said, and I agree mods and DLCs are what kept Skyrim going so long.
I’d love to see Skyrim using the graphics engine that KCD uses. I love the realism, especially of the wooded areas.

I would love Elder Scolls 6 in Unreal Engine 4. That would be mind blowing.

So WH paying extra for the privilage to mod cryengine will save money. Ok.
