Way to make a huge amount of Grocshen

Through trial and error I found a great way to make a crap ton of Grocshen. At the moment I am sitting on a bank of over 11k, and it would be more but after purchasing supplies, repairs, a new horse and horse gear. It will take quite a bit of trial and error but is extremely lucrative, and also helps with the Bandit Camp at Pribyslavitz quest.

1st go to youtube and watch youtuber ESO’s video on the hidden treasure locations, I was able to get 4 out of the 5, the last one is in a very hard lockpick chest, also these are where you will find the treasures of the Past goodies if you preordered. This will net you some great gear and a fair amount of coin in and of itself.

Now things you need, decent gear…try not to use plate, you need some mobility, the best bow you can currently use at your level, and most important, Better Piercing Arrows, which you can buy from the huntsman in the upper castle area of Rattay. I bought all 60 and its a whopping 360 grocshen, but the 150 piercing damage is amazing, almost a guaranteed kill shot to the chest at close range. I also bought a new horse with my gains and a new saddle with 4 bags, horse carryweight is now at 480lbs. Now basically all you do is stalk the bandits and Cumans at either the narrow bridge or the area where henry says you can launch a surprise attack. You just make them try and chase you away, so you can avoid a fight with multiple opponents. They dont immediately engage in combat but if you pullback your bow they are basically at point blank range with a better piercing arrow to the chest and drop like flies.

Loot their gear, transfer to horse, and repeat. Go back to Rattay, sell your haul, repair and repeat. Buy some savior schnapps, marigold, and lazarus potions just in case. you will definitely have the money for them.

I am not sure if the enemies respawn at the camp, I am thinking most don’t because at one point…no enemies were ever at the narrow bridge anymore. and on my last run through…I basically was able to kill everyone in both camps…and poison and burn arrows with out having to worry about getting caught.

A few general tips, I had so many archer duels while doing this. Use the trees to your advantage, basically a shield. Be careful of the bandits with halberds…they kill after like 3 hits but with no shield one or two arrows at center mass drop them.
You must really be careful of the Cuman and Bandit Captains, they have heavy armor and shields. I would recommend getting the headbasher skill on the strength tab. if give you a chance to knock out and opponent with a hit to the head, I have been saved by a glancing arrow shot off these bad boys’ heads that knock them out…then mercy killed with a mace to the face…lol

I plan on checking out if the bandit camp is still active after the quest battle, probably not but I am going to give it a shot. This was also a good way to level many skills, like archery, strength, speech, and main level.

Give it a shot and good luck!!!

There are easier ways to make money like Archery contests that you can repeat constantly.

we are not talking pennies here…the loot from one dead bandit alone can net you anywhere between 500 to 1000 Grocshen

The money you get for selling that loot is always at least half it’s worth anyway and it takes a lot of time and effort to get to the area and successfully kill the targets to make the money however with the Archery you can win 140 Grochen each round which only takes a few mins and you don’t have to trade or sell anything.

You can fast travel which is isnt that bad, furthermore you level up archer by doing the same, and speech because of haggling etc, and yeah its worth half because most of the time its damaged, but one bandit carries multiple bows, honey, lockpicks, plus decent types of armor. So it is a win-win, given that archery itself is quite difficult to master, and you level so many other things this way.

The one thing I hate is I can’t pick up a halberd and move it to my horse, its one of the most “expensive” items you can loot off an enemy, but unless you carry it yourself, isn’t going anywhere.

Fine if you think that better go for it I am just saying IMO the Archery contests will net you decent enough cash you need no archery skill to do them and you don’t have to travel anywhere just rinse and repeat until your rich.

I also hate that Halbred’s have a limited functionality but AFAIK they were added late.

Or, in other words - Watch other people show you how to play your game for you, cheat, exploit, and do anything but actually play the game. C’mon, this is sad.

Yeah I was thinking the same. It’s basically just farming a mission to get money but to each their own.

True. It just makes me a bit sad that some people are effectively ruining the game for themselves in the search for a shortcut. I mean, what is the point of getting a load of in game money quickly? Surely for no other purpose than to buy the best equipment, thereby skipping the entire point of the game, to play through that difficulty curve and enjoy every moment of it.

I’m guilty of it myself I have made loads of Grochen on the Archery contest. I spent almost a whole day at it and got tonnes of cash Bought a horse, 4 bag Saddle and some fashionable items to improve both stealth and speech. It bored the crap out of me.

The dev’s could have easily put a limit on the amount you could win at any one Archery contest as there are a few but they didn’t so I just kept going and going. The same can be said for farming a mission like the OP claims is better.

If you wan’t to improve Archery you can go hunting and earn a load of cash that way as well you even improve Stealth and Hunting with it, but it all takes time.

Hunting is a far more lucrative way to make a lot of money. Selling meat to the miller, raw (or cook it first) can easily get into the thousands of monies at a time. Even just bringing a lot of rabbit. People need to eat and will pay for food.

As a beginning player the easiest ways to make money to get some cash for armor / clothes etc, is to start with herbalism. 100% risk free to yourself, picking flowers, they don’t sell for a ton but its an easy 100-400 monies in 5-6 mins of play time to get you started. No lock picking, or stealing that can get you in early game trouble with reputations or jail time. Use the herbs to make potions, sell the potions, use the potions.

The hunting perks are some of the best in the game for being in the open, and making money.

Fighting once you’ve got a significant amount of levels in fighting skills can become good, but you are limited there by opponents. Random encounters usually don’t have anyone in good armor that makes a lot worth selling and the ruin missions end after just a few encounters. Also once you have good armor a fight that doesn’t go you’re way can be costly for repairs. Hunting, everything just runs away, boars don’t charge you (which is what should really happen), and rabbits and deer don’t attack. Rabbits should attack, that would be amazing.

Ruining the game for themselves? Each persons experience and play style is different…if you don’t like to do things a certain way…you have the choice not to. I gained plenty of money yes, but also experience with the bow, strength agility, etc. I also killed enemies you end up killing during the quest anyway…Also there is no real “BEST” equipment, that once again comes down to your playstyle. I don’t like to wear plate armor, I also dont really use swords or axes, I prefer the mace, shield, and bow personally. So forgive me for sharing this information and experience I found…because you think it’s sad. This game gives the player alot of latitude in how they want to play and approach it…so my bad that I don’t play how YOU play…
