What do you think of the realism debate? How far do you think we should go? How many boundaries should we cross?
I dont think it should be a case of how far to go. Realistically theres only so much they can add into the game. do they want to miss out on lets say, building your own house after a lord grants you land for getting rid of a horde of bandits. For the sake of bestiality?! (yes bestiality was one of the things mentioned in the post) I want this game to be believable and realistic. you dont need EVERYTHING to make it that way. What about you?
As far as bestiality goes, meh. I don’t care. But, the only thing I do not want them to do, it to make characters immortal. None of them, not even kids, or quest people. One thing I can not abide, is someone making a decision for me, and that includes who needs an arrow to face. As for the rest of it, I just want everything to be as realistic as possible, with no concern for the feelings of certain groups of people.
I see your thinking. I kinda hope so too. Playing fallout there was always a couple annoying kids. even in skyrim. every time i saw them, saying the same annoying lines again and again. I wanted to put an arrow in them. Since this game is going for realism they might but im going to say theres a slim chance of ALL characters being able to die. theres bound to be certain lines they dont want to cross and im sure killing kids might be one of them…
Sadly true, however, I saw one of the people from the dev team put a vote up of how we wanted to be treated when it comes to quest characters, such as, the way they do it in skyrim or something. The overwhelming majority vote went to everyone is kill-able, however, you will get a message telling you that the main quest line is now broken, and you can then reload if you wish. This did not apply to children however.
I’m still annoyed at the pseudo morality people cling to. "You can kill thousands of innocent (or otherwise) adults with nary a thought in the world, but lay a finger upon a child, and you are now Satan, and banned in 50 countries.

Interesting how fast the conversation drifted away. But to answer your question. YES, we want to have destroyable weapons, armor and even the cloths you are wearing. They even get dirty and messy. But, as always:), we still have to discuss how far this all goes and in which extend we are going to implement these things.

Ha, yeh we did drift away from the main topic pretty rapidly. At any case i think warhorse has come up with something that has got our interest already other wise we wouldnt be here. I think that what ever they put out on the market will be one of a kind and one of the best games ever. If we really want to alter things after that, thats why we get modding abilities. back to the original topic. I think itll be interesting if theres some sort of skill level that attributes to how fast armour degrades or if its just a general quality of the item at time of purchase that dictates how fast it breaks.
i think answer should be obvious. what, you learn some maneuver that softens the blow on your armor?
so you think the armor degrades at the same rate regardless of 5 minutes into the game or 5 days but your ability to dodge or general skill at fighting means you can avoid blows that could cause damage?
Uh, I think he meant it is ridiculous to think that you could learn a skill that makes armor stronger:P Obviously you could upgrade it, but a hammer to the chest-plate should do just as much damage, no matter who wears the armor XD If you meant avoiding damage entirely, you should have phrased it a tad differently …
I thought as much i just wanted to check. I just hope they stay clear of the elder scrolls style where armor gets better/offers more protection the higher your skill. Quality should be key. As in armor made by an apprentice isnt as strong as a more experienced black smith.
I just hope there is some awesome leather armor, for my bard character! Something noble looking. What’s the point of plate armor, when they can’t hit meXD
I doubt we’d see leather armor. The references to it are sparse and predate the time this game takes place by half a century at least.
I just meant heavy leather clothing, sort of like the starks in Game of thrones. I’m sure people wore something like that… Warmth and what not.

It’s probably quite heavy and most likely more constraining than later armor since a lot of the weight rests on the shoulders.
If you want something light i’d go with a gambeson, reinforced leather cap/small steel helmet together with a sword/buckler and lute. Oh and don’t forget to dress dandy and wear a chaperon

(loud sigh) (another louder sigh) I meant what they were wearing casually, that was rob in war mode. I guess heavy was the wrong word (oops). Essentially I dress for style over anything else, and their is no way in holy hell I’m wearing a chaperon. Or a god damn cap >:(

It looks kinda like a glossy womens jacket. Not sure if folks in the medieval period ever wore much leather besides shoes, belts and pouches. I’ll try and find out.
