In our profile summary, we have a section called “top badges”. It doesn’t seem like it’s for backer badges, so what is it for?0_o

At the very bottom you’ll see “Top Badges”.
I think it is for nothing, it seems there is no use for it at all.
Maybe you should start handing out badges?
Badges are a feature of discourse (this platform) and are yet experimental feature.
Otherwise they are “rewards” that can be given by admins. For example a badge “Nice topic” for nice topic 
At least thats what I learned from official discourse forum.
As it is experimental, it is not yet enabled by default.
