What kind of rig are you running?

You call a X70 a midrange card? These cards are usually sufficient to run games on full HD and max details for approximately 3 years, maybe only high details in the last year, and then even a X80-X95 would be too outdated to use any longer because it’s not just the FLOPS that evolve in this industry!
More powerfull cards are only appropriate if you run very high resolutions or multiple screens… or to boost your e-penix if you will excuse me stooping to ad hominem.

I’m an IT guy, challenge my power, I dare you.
No seriously: Money’s for spending! If you got it - help the economy and get rid of it!

Oh by the way: If any of you think about upgrading , by the powers of two - wait till next year or at least till winter; lot’s of new tech coming this way! DDR4, Broadwell Intel iteration, next graphics card generation as usual, etc.

I have tested Left 4 Dead 2. Works well, but I think I need something diffrent for KCD…

I’m not sure what will happen with DDR4. AMD and Intel are both supporting it this year but I don’t know if consumers will go for it this time.

Nice. Can you tell between 120hz and 60hz? A lots of fights everywhere about this. I wanted to get 120hz but after all i got 2560x1440.

There is a noticeable difference but if you’re going to shell out extra for it then go for the G-Sync one (if you have Nvidia). That’s transformational.

16.0 GB of RAM - Corsair DDR3 1333MHz
1 TB Western Digital hard-drive with a read/write speed of 10k RPMs
AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight Core Processor 4.01GHz (the box says 8 cores, but I'm pretty sure it's just 4 cores with hyper-threading)
AMD HD7950 video card
700W Thermaltake PSU
Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)

Best so far. That is Ivy Bridge build right? Why 1300W PSU? I want to get Logitech key and mouse as well. For headphones i have Audio-technica. Very high level but gamers don’t know them. More audiophyles.

yeah its ivy bridge, and i chose 1300 just cuz i liked all the different colors that were included in the wires lol. this can handle any game so far easily getting 60 fps or higher.

I had also an i7-4930K but I gave it back - not worth the 500€ just for a CPU. i5 and E3 are still the best price/performance CPU’s for gamers (AMD are also quite good with FPS/€). At least I got my Tri-X
just for 490€

PS: I preferred 120hz over 60Hz its quite a big difference if you have 60 FPS+ because you can see actually the FPS

Hey Apoc!

I got also some similar equipment like yours ^^

G19 Keyboard
G500s Mouse
Sennheiser 320 Headset (I couldn’t get a 360 :frowning: )

I recommend you a Xonar DGX soundcard…it beats the shit out of the Realtek ALC sound (lol) chip.

Hard Drive : 1TB Sata-3
Graphic : Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Overclocked 2GB GDDR5

I built my first rig tail-end of last year. It’s not amazing but it’s coped with everything I’ve thrown at it so far:

  • i3 3220 Dual Core 3.2GHz CPU
  • MSI H77MA-G43 Mobo
  • 8GB RAM (Crucial Ballistix Sport)
  • EVGA nVIDIA GTX 660 2GB GPU
  • WD 1TB HDD
  • Corsair CX430 PSU
  • Fractal Design Core 1000 case
  • Windows 7 64-bit OS
  • Crappy DVD-RW drive I salvaged from a 7-year old Acer desktop

Not including Frankendrive, paid just over 500 quid for it all. =3 Reckon I can get at least another year before I need to think about any upgrades.

This is a link to my reddit post about my gaming rig. Figured since I have it all prepared to go, I’d just use this to share it. It is quite a bit of stuff, so, I hope nobody is against link clicking.

I read Broadwell doesn’t have DDR4 support and that DDR4 for intel consumer CPUs will be introduced with Skylake in 2015. AMD’s “Toronto” will have DDR4 though (from what I’ve heard and read).

Haswell-E has DDR4 so Broadwell will too.

Yeah I’ve read that too but it was merely a rumor at the time. Is it sure now? That would kinda suck. It would mean I have more time to bring up the money for my next overhaul but my setup is getting kinda old and on the other side I don’t want to buy half-assed components.

The police confiscated my gaming computer so now I’m using an office laptop, I’m planning to buy a new one though, the police said they would return it in three months, well that was 6 Months ago…

No idea if it’s certain but I hope not :frowning: yeah my rig is as well getting kinda old as well, but I don’t really think the new CPUs will make a big difference in performance CPU-wise. Instead, I think intel will focus more on lower power consumption to keep being able to compete on the mobile market, and DDR4 won’t really make much of a difference performance-wise either except for servers or RAM-intense applications.

How can you be so sure that just because Haswell-E has DDR4, Broadwell will too? I do hope it will, but I haven’t heard anything other than DDR4 for Haswell-E and Skylake.
