What to do?

Hey guys and gals, so grabbed the game yesterday enjoyed the prologue, felt well paced and introduced the game very well. Now after the prologue the games become rather… Stale? I did a few jobs for the miller and now have one that involved me walking a long distance, great I thought finally I can see the open world.

The world seems dead? I don’t know who has side quests? Are they marked or do you have to talk to everyone? Some people seem like they have quests for me but all I can do is pickpocket them (they sat things along the lines of “I have a plan” or something as I walk by). The villages are all copy and pasted with little life in them, I came across a wanderer, he doesn’t talk? Can only pick pocket him. The world feels very empty of anything to do other than walk. I spent about an hour just walking and didn’t run into anything interesting at all. Sure the game looks good, but I was hoping for more than a walking simulator.

I suppose what I want to know is what am I doing wrong? I see people are spending hours and hours outside of the main quest doing things but I can’t seem to find anything to do. I don’t want to rush through the main quest but atm I can’t find anything else to do. Have I been unlucky not running into side quests? As I said earlier villages seem to be copy and paste, the inn, a black Smith etc etc

Progress some at the main story and then you will unlock A LOT OF side quests

I did the same thing. The first part of the main story is basically a in depth tutorial, then things pick up.

I did about 60hours if gameplsy before I decided to hunt with Lord Hans. There is plenty to do, you just have to decided what you want to do first.

Oh that’s good to know, I tend to avoid doing the main story quest in RPGs in favour of going and finding side quests. Maybe this is why I haven’t been able to find any!

I decided to wander into a forest earlier to have a good a hunting but after 20mins only came across rabbits, which I never hit with my bow (obviously I haven’t leveld my bow skill at all yet).

Practice makes perfect

Besides, poaching is BAD. I hunt Cuman SCUM

Sorry hit enter accidentally, yes so I had a go at hunting early in the game but was a bit disappointed by lack of animals found. Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love games that are close to life, I play lots of survival games. But there is a fine line between keeping it fun or too much like real life boring.

I will however keep at it as I really enjoyed the prologue, thanks for everyone’s replies

There are other animals, but they a hard to find. (For me)

Yeah animals seem to be scarce for the most part - or at least in most areas. Wish there was a wider variety. Some quests require you to acquire raven feathers and wolf fangs, haven’t seen either. In Red Dead Redemption they have bears, wish those were here too, however I’m not familiar with the ecosystems of this area in Bohemia and perhaps there were none…
