If only they had slings in this game… Any news regarding thrown daggers and/or axes? Because that would be awesome.
If not, I guess bearded axe would be my next choice. Maybe a longspear as well.

catapult, without a doubt - perhaps a small ballista for sneaking around, backstabbing and other mischief, it’s simpler to hide than the catapult.
Mace. According to Aquinas the only weapon worthy of a cleric.
don’t you mean ink and quill
i’m hoping to try out multiple styles, but for anyone who ever played War of the Roses my favorite weapon was the one-handed axe, that had the blade on one side and spike on the other side. good against both light and heavily armored foes just by swapping which side you were favoring.
but if the sneaking is as good/accurate as i’m hoping and the devs are talking about, then it’s going to have to be dagger and/or hands. it would be really cool if the crafting was extensible enough to allow me to put small blades into my gloves or light gauntlets in which case i could punch with lethal effectiveness. but if we’re going purely based on what was around at the time it’ll have to be shield/sword|axe|spear combo for real battles. i’ve never favored heavy plate and since the pole weapons won’t likely be in Act 1 (see the dev diary updates and livestream linked in previous answers) then those combos would be the most righteous. shield bashing would be an added awesomeness and i hope they can get it in like how you can kick during a duel.
that game doesn’t allow you to swap sides for one handed axe, what are you talking about?
I guess it would be too much to hope for, but it would be cool if you could play as left-handed, swapping hands for your shield and weapon.
Longsword and Shield + sword are classics… but I’d like to see hammers!
swapping sides might have been the wrong way to say it. there was the ability to spin the axe around in your hand. i forget off the top of my head what key it was but this was definitely possible. several of the weapons were “double-sided” and took advantage of this feature. sadly i think that game’s servers are barren now due to Vikings but i’m sure a video can be found that shows this off.
Hi,
My weapon of choice is a Lance (11ft Pole, with a 5" spearhead for my preference) but they aren’t including them which sucks as it’s actually a -very- interesting and effective weapon especially on foot. Not to mention that almost every infantryman would have a spear, lance or polearm, and lance / pike formations were dominating the field of battle.
Failing that I hope they have a Bread knife so i can strike down a soldier in one swing

I’m kind of on the fence. I want to do something different than the standard sword and shield routine. However, I’ll ultimately go with whatever weapon seems the most fun to craft through the blacksmithing mini-game. I’m hoping for a hammer or axe. I think I’d stay away from polearms though.
I want to wield a mace and a shield, but I think I may want to wield a twohanded longsword I had so much fun with that in darksouls.
A longbow, bodkin arrows and a small one handed axe. I’ll wear Gambeson and a green and yellow hood like i always did in mount and blade.
Hi mate,
No not always, spears are often single handed, while lances + pikes are double handed.

Warrior Rose.
I’ll be using a bow as my primary weapon and then maybe a spear two-handed and a longsword, probably a bastard sword or hand-and-a-half
‘‘Whos plume is stupid now, Phil? Huh, whos plume is stupid NOW?!’’
Also: Yeah, Warhammer or similar would be my pick.
To get technical aren’t spears one handed weapons because there short, yes they can also be two handed, and pikes are only two handed because the length is way oversize?
Hi!
The classification is length, of course not all spears were the same but it gave an average length:
A spear is often around 8 ft long, being wielded often single handedly in many stances and also with shield.
A Lance is around 11 ft long, being used for both horseback and infantry fighting, on ground a lance is used two handed, in a pike like formation and fighting style, but more agile and elegant than a bendy pole with a pokey bit.
A Pikes were used alot so it covers a large area so it depends on time period, varying from 16 ft, all the way up to 25 ft used to great effect in combat.
EDIT: If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Warrior Rose
Those were the same thing…
I am looking forward to try the axe, hammer and halberd. I hope that we will be able to get our hands also on improvised weapons made from farming tools too. I understand that this is two decades before Hussite wars, but the game takes place during a civil war and common folk needed to defend themselves too. And the Hussite weapons didn’t just turn out in 1420 out of the blue.
Here are countrymen’s weapons from the Hussite museum in Tábor:
And these were the townfolks’ weapons:
And of course the firearms, which were coming into fashion at the time. As discussed at length here. Early gunpowder weapons?
