What weapons do you legally possess in real life? Do you wander armed?

Hello there,
I was wondering if there are many fellow forumists who love guns and blades just like I and (most) of my family do. I live in Bulgaria - some regarding laws are positive, but mostly it is a weapon hating country which does not allow use of deadly force in self-defence.

I’m sure our US living mates could take the big shine here, but we Europeans can also share experience as long as we live in the country which is not so weapon opposing.

Personally my wife and I (together  ) own half-a-dozen combat knives together with several swords, a pneumatic rifle, a compound bow and a shotgun (considering to add a second shotgun or maybe a rifle next year). I’ve yet to apply for a handgun license, because in my country they give shotguns and rifles more easily than pistols and revolvers. Buying anything different than a firearm is completely legal and requires only ID and 18 years of age (knife, sword, sling, bow, crossbow, pneumatic, etc…).

The law of weapon usage is quite stupid here by the way - no chance to get a “self-defence” judgement in any situation if you are using a weapon against an attacker, which is allogical and makes owning weapons practically useless, at least for us honest citizens who do not commit crimes and just want to defend from them. At least this stays if you aren’t wounded by a weapon attack in the first place… then, if you are alive, you could retaliate. Even if someone assault you in your home, you can’t stop him with a weapon before he attacks and wounds you! Nonetheless, I prefer to be alive rather than dead so I’ve made my share of arming and practising with ranged and melee armament.

On the other hand, there are also some good laws - concealed carry of any knife/sword on yourself is legal here (no matter what some cop may say). Open carry is a bit tricky - you are not forbidden to do so by law (hence it is allowed), but the public panic quickly seeing someone armed with a knife, most often resulting in the police playing heroes and a lot of useless hassle, usually ending in your favor if you know the law and keep a strong point.

Handguns could be carried in person all the time (if you manage to get a license), but only concealed. Open carry is allowed for government forces only. Shotguns and rifles could be carried in your car as long as you wish (not on your person!), but they should always be in a holster plus disassembled/removed unloaded magazine. When you are at home, your firearms should be stored in a fixed locked metal safe, however this does not apply for knives, swords, bows or pneumatic guns. It is a lot of bureaucratic trouble if someone steals your gun, so there aren’t many people who carry their rifles in a car.

I’ll be most interested to know if you share a passion for guns and what are the laws in your country regarding ownership, carrying and finallly…usage

Nice armament
CZ 75 is a wonderful pistol and I’m not familiar with the second model.
Baton with flashlight is very convenient. My wife often walks with electroshock plus flashlight - I’ve tested it on myself and it ain’t cool
I don’t know if you have gypsy problems in Czech Republic, but they are swarming here doing all kind of petty (and not so petty) crimes.

The other one is Kahr CM9. It is actually the most used secondary firearm by New York police officers. Small 9mm with 6+1 standard mags (extended 8+1).

It is small and very light and kicks a lot as such, however, I was really surprised how accurate gun it is. The CZ is always preferred, but sometimes having the smaller option is very much welcome.

The pepper sprays and paralyzers have one problem - they work on 90-95% of people. But 5-10% will hardly notice. Make sure your wife is aware of that. (Also, paralyzers and winter clothes…)

I won’t be getting into the other issue you raised.

Two compound bows a 50 and 80 lb. No fire arm at the moment but im looking in to getting one. Most people in my family own guns. Would love to get an Ar but they’re so damn expensive. I try to carry a knife with me in places that its allowed and want to get a concealed weapon license soon and a pistol. I also got this a few years ago. Its been put through hell and back even been burned to where the handle melted but it still works great.

Yeah, in a condition of drug usage and/or alcohol there is a slight chance that an attacker
may not be stopped by pepper sprays or shocks.

The smaller pistol looks compact and useful though.

That is a nice axe. I really, really want to have someone buy this one for me:

It is €200 and I can’t justify its price (even despite the 20 years warranty), but as a present, it would be cool

Wow that’s an axe
Luckily, you probably can’t carry it concealed HAHAH

Drugs and alcohol are another matter altogether. What I meant is that there are people who simply naturally - notwithstanding drugs or adrenaline level - don’t respond to pepper sprays and paralyzers. Most people don’t know that, and finding out when you need it to work can be very, very bad. I recommend this author:

The CZ 75 Compact D is actually made of aluminum alloy, and it carries really well in most clothes. The Kahr is light to the point I don’t really know I have it.

Damn cuts well and throw able for a 2h axe. Yeah if the price was lower i would definitely buy that. Looks like it would make a good walking stick too and it doubles as a weapon.

I could but probably not legally  Ive stuck it in my coat before when i was in a field near my house at night. It fit rather nicely but the spike was digging into my chest so yeah defiantly not something you would take with you all the time.

Grosse messer from cold steel its 300 bucks though :anguished: Thats a lot of money for a knife

Well, in my little middle-european country, thanks to the one-man manufactures, you can get a damn fine longsword for that amount of money. If I had to rely on factories like AlbionSwords (More than thousand dollars for a sword, seriously?! And I am not even sure those are forged weapons or milled), I would have been never be able to start fencing.

Do I posses weapons?

No.

I AM the weapon. Scientists still don’t know how or why but suspect aliens have something to do with it.

I’m a walking tripod.

Of course i’d opt for ‘concealed carry’ but those new skinny jeans which are all the rage leave little to the imagination.
