What will contain the alpha?

Hi all,

I’m reading on IGN that the Alpha will contain only a small village, no combat mechanics, no horse-riding, some small quest and few peasants: is that true?

I know that the first important thing is to view the computer compatibility but I hope to see the combat mechanics too!

Yes, it is true, at least for the first time. Every two month Warhorse want to update the Alpha and add more and more of the game mechanics like the combat or horse riding for example. You will be see combat in the Alpha, but not at the beginning of Alpha

This first release will just be the very basics, more or less just to see if people outside Warhorse can run it at all, and if not, why.
I just hope my old computer can runt it so I can have a look around.

Pretty much the same way that Star citizen use. They started out with just the hangar where you could walk about and look at you ships. Then they added the “arena commander” module. Where you could pick up a helmet that allowed you to run a game simulator when sitting in your ship. first as single player and they then rather quickly added multi player.
Later the planet module, first person shooter module, and so on will be added, until the game got all the planned elements.

Pretty sure that this game will do is a good deal quicker. (singleplayer vs multiplayer game with consistence universe)

Yes, I’m a Star Citizen backer too and have noticed the similarities. I agree that this game will probably go through the process a bit quicker. They got less resources but also doesn’t have to build 3-4 games in one, “only” a complete medieval open world :stuck_out_tongue:

The most important thing is that as alpha testers we can have access to all the mechanics (in future updates) so we can help Warhorse Studio to make the game even better

Hooray! It also depends on us. So we have to report bugs and not only play until we die

Glad to hear you’re using a computer with some mileage. What I took from the update is they will be monitoring the performance on our various PCs as it relates to the alpha. Warhorse needs to be careful in making sure it will run smoothly on platforms other than the most powered up PC. I doubt the alpha will have scalability but I’d think the data they’ll collect will help them set up the final product with graphics options to run on a variety of machines.
