Where do I get lockpicks?

So I managed to break all 4 lockpicks quickly trying to open the training chest at the miller’s. And then I got a side quest to rob a executioners house and broke the one I got for that quest trying to open the door. I’ve been all over rattay and can’t find anymore. I also can’t figure out the lockpicking and have read one guide on it. Any tips would be appreciated as this is getting frustrating wasting a bunch of time.

If you talk to miller peshek and ask to sell stolen items, you can buy lock picks instead of selling stuff as it opens a shop menu

Yea I read I could talk to him, but I don’t see an option to sell stolen goods. It’s just questions about rattay and the quest I’m on? I don’t have an option to open his shop either.

Have you completed the mission where you have to steal a ring from the executioner? You have to do this first before you have access to him as a fence. If you don’t want to, you could try the trader in talmberg, he sometimes has lockpicks

That is the quest I am stuck on and have no lockpicks to get in his house. I also checked the trader, I will try waiting a few days and check the trader again. Thanks for the help so far :).

When I first played I killed the executioner XD It worked mind, but if you do kill him, you may have a reputation penalty. If people start refusing to talk to you due to your reputation, try getting arrested and sent to prison, worked for me

Instead of killing the executioner you can also just try pickpocketing him or knocking him out and then robbing him for a key to the trunk @MaGicBush once you get the ring you have to go give it to another miller to unlock selling stolen goods to any miller. All the millers will then have trade options open up sometimes with books you can buy that will improve you stealth/lockpicking/pickpocketing rogue skills as well as essentials like lockpicks. I’ve also found some general traders carry lockpicks and I’d check with the blacksmith and armorers in Rattay. They are expensive if you’re just starting the game since you’re very close to a bed at Theresa’s house i’d do a quick nap/save and then go practice on the chest and farm up some xp until you’re less likely to break your picks. I think if you can make it up to lvl 3 you can get a perk that makes lockpicks twice as durable and you’ll break a whole lot fewer picks after that.

There’s a side quest later down the line involving said executioner.

He was ressurected for me XD

He’s a witch! :fire:

if your speech skill is up a little you can talk him out of the ring. its pretty easy.
