If you have a 3770 roll with it .
If you are deciding which to buy between both and price is similar on the set-up go the i5. Because it is newer .
Depends on your motherboard.
LGA 1155 - i7 3770K will work, the i5 7500 won’t.
LGA 1151 - i5 7500 will work, the i7 3770K won’t.
If you also need to buy a mother board there are advantages in getting newer manufacturing processes… But: If you want to run modern multi-threaded applications then the i7 might still be a better choice… If you need best single core performance or only quad core performance then the i5 in the newer process is probably better.
I chose to upgrade from an i5 2400 to an i7 3770K to get improved multi-core performance at minimal cost (no change of motherboard, RAM etc.) Totally worth the £240 it cost.
I didn’t see much additional merit in spending more than £500 to get a more recent chip design, motherboard and RAM to replace what I already had… and that would only have been ‘equivalent’ performance to the 3770K, not massively superior. Top of the line with an actual meaningfully better performance would have been even more.
do you think it makes sense to buy 1151v2 if you plan to upgrade?
since newer intel will probably only work with that?!
and is it a big difference to buy ddr4 instead of ddr3 ram?
Better to wait for new generation. I’ve 8700k cus i needed it at the moment, but there’s no point to buy this dump on the same 1151v2. 
kcd will utilise 8 threads so I would recommend atleast 4 core 8 threads CPU. in this case i7 is better however i5 newer gen can provide better performance with newer GPU
I have the i5 7500 and I saw that the i7 3770 was on the recommended list to run KCD so I just wanted to know if my i5 was similar or better than the i7
I m planning on upgrading my gpu from a 1050 ti. Are there any graphic cards better than the 1060 for a little cheaper price?
There’re no cheaper card, that are better, than 1060. You can find only better cards, that are better than a 1050ti. Like 980ti.
