Who else thought of a game like this?

So I know there won’t be any battlefield commanding in KCD but as a big strategy fan, when I wrote down my ideas for my game I made sure to include something along those lines. There could be three top commanding officers in an army and before a battle or assault on a castle they would have a meeting with other relevant characters (engineer, spys) and determine a main battle plan and up to two back up plans(A,B,C). Of course if the player is not a commander or a relevant character he will not take part in the planning. So the the plans would decide the battlefield objectives of each unit. The #1 commanding officer would be able to cycle through A,B,C while on the battlefield. When the #1 is personally engaged in fighting however he loses this ability to change the battle plan and it falls on #2. If he is is also engaged it falls to #3 who also loses the ability when fighting. The officer in command at any given time will be able to cycle through the battle plans or call an overall retreat. Also if #2 or #3 are commanding and #1 or #2 get out of combat they retake control. I’m not sure how possible this is with AI but on the actual playing side it would be easily implemented as it would only need two controls, cycle and retreat. It would keep battles from always turning into Arthurian melees and if I might say so myself, add realism.

Back in college (2008 or so), I had an idea for a realistic inventory system, but nothing so grandiose as KCD. My idea held no bars against fantasy elements, but really focused on moral choices and tough decisions (similar to what we are seeing in some of the Telltale Games games; i.e. The Walking Dead) and I envisioned “realistic” weapon/armor deprecation.

Again though, this was just for some college team project. But, I can’t say we all didn’t want the game to be real.

I always had this thought in mind every time I played an RPG.
Especially with Skyrim and such games, I thought you could make this a LOT better.
I played Mount and Blade and thought it was a pretty cool game but still, it had a lack of something and was not the typical rpg. And you could not travel the world for real and it was kind of a fantasy world, too

I always wondered why no one came up with the Idea to make a real world medieval game with no fantasy but based on historical facts. I thought it could be like time traveling playing such a game and I was sure many people would like it.

After reading the blog of Dan and seeing where the gaming industry goes I came to the conclusion that there may have been attempts to do such a game but the -sorry- dumb publishers couldnt see the potential of it.
Now -finally- the time has come, the publishers are still not willing to take risks but thanks to kickstarter warhorse is able to create such a -I think I can say revolutionary- game. And its been a dream to create a game like this for Dan and the others, too.
So I believe its going to be a great success. Its such a refreshing new game in times of a uninspired game industry with loads of sequels and copys of successful games, always the same fantasy like shit.

And I couldnt imagine a better Studio than Warhorse to realize this great project
