Why do we have Polearms?

I dont understand why polearms are even in this game. You can receive training for polearms but cant level up exp in said weapon. You cant keep a polearm in your inventory, and the ones i have managed to pick up are unusable and you cant sell them?

you can use them…it’s just the way they made it so you can’t put it in your inventory is stupid…you have to drop it to interact with anything.

If you wanna use one for fun I would suggest picking one up at Pribyslavitz…they’re fun, they’re just stupid in this game

It’s one of those things they wanted to fully implement, but couldn’t in the time frame allowed. They’re still extremely powerful weapons. I saw one youtube video of a guy knocking out a guard in Skalitz, stealing his polearm - then going on to defeat all the Cumans in the area when they appeared. They one-shot most people.

and that reach. just stab people into oblivion…i grabbed one at my battle at Pribyslavitz and wrecked faces

Yep. Also probably the most effective weapon from horseback. Bow is ok, but pretty easy to one hit folks from the saddle on a drive-by with a halberd or glaive.

yeah dont get me wrong they are fun thats why its a shame there is no skill/perks + the ability to not have them in the inventory. im sure there was a trainer that allowed you pay to level up polearms like swords maces etc, not sure if this has been removed since patches though ive never checked.
They could have just made them weigh alot to compensate for having a stronger weapon.

The polearms are now really annoying to me, because there’re laying all over in Rattay. I think there are so many that I would be able to make a wall round Rattay out of Polearms.

At least the NPCs can’t interact with them as well as we do cause they drop their polearms every night to equip a torch

You have to be polearm make these days that would increase your income

I got one into my inventory once but it was definitely a glitch and I’m not sure if it will still work. You need to crouch and then pick up the item. Since there is an animation of him holding the polearm that cannot be seen when you’re crouched for some reason it let me pick up a second one, once I did that the first one went into my inventory. I dropped them and did it again a few times to make sure it was real lol…this was a while ago, maybe even before the frist patch so it may have been remedied…still doesnt really help that much lol

I’ll try again tonight if I remember and if no one can try it within the next like, 5 hours until I’ll be home again

Every time I read a comment where someone mentions how powerful polearms are, it makes me think my game is either bugged or they don’t work right because I rebound my keys… ā€œBlockā€ is now bound to ā€œRMBā€, ā€œThrustā€ is on ā€œMouse5ā€, and ā€œSpecial Attack/Kickā€ is on ā€œMouse4ā€.

The few times I’ve picked one up and messed around with it I only had a basic attack (ā€œLMBā€) and it was this slow, awkward little chop motion off to the left that was almost impossible to aim, even with spears. I couldn’t thrust with them, I couldn’t block with them, or anything else…

I’m not sure which pole it was I had, and my strength is pretty high but pole skill was basically 0…I just flanked and stabbed…killed people in like 2-3 pokes

If you get rushed it’s junk, unless that was due to my skill level with poles

WH said, that it was descoped because of release date, maybe they will return with some patch, there is mode for it.

unless the player is on console, that is
However, if the crouch method works, you could try doing battle with the pole, dropping it, crouching and picking it up and calling your horse over…perhaps the game would allow you to interact with your horse even though you have a pole, since when crouched it allows you to do other things you are not supposed to be able to do…all I know is on Xbox one, one time a while ago, I put a pole into my inventory and picked one up crouched and it didn’t act as though I had one…gonna try it again tonight and also going to try to mount a horse with it; or move an inventoried pole into horse storage

I dont even see a polearm skill level on my list though which was part of the question of why do we even have them xD

People have said if, they were supposed to be there and got cut…perhaps they’ll update later and add them back in. They’re fun though if you find one in battle

Looked through some steam threads and someone else found the same. ā€˜There’s a cut polearm skill that you can still pay to have trained.’
They might have been cut but they forgot to take the leftovers out the game. Definitely released an unpolished product, I feel they would have more success in opening to early access first :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably should have done steam and Microsoft early access but whatevs…I still like it

Same though i guess its just the little things that get to me more than the so called bigger game breaking bugs that i dont seem to get at all xD ocd alert

Speaking of realism, its not possible to simply put polearms and spears in your backpack. Usually if you have it in RL, you have to carry it in hand.

In this manner is then function of polearms and spears OK.

However, when combat starts, most NPCs drop polearms and use other weapon in slot 1 or 2. Other situation is when NPC should despawn (out of player range) while polearm seems to be a different entity, which then drops.

Possible fixes:

  1. Polearms will despawn.
  2. There will be Weapon rack on certain places, and AI will be coded to pickup/drop polearm weapons into it.

Second choice is interesting from point of realism, however it would be quile complicated to make it into AI.

But adding weapon racks for all types of weapons in armory or nearby gatehouses, which will allow you to access weapons you stored there previously, makes sense.

It sucks if you want to play with pole arms, but I’d have to say, it is the most plausible and realistic way to do it. if you do not intend to hold it in your hand, drop it, or lean it against a wal etc.

Good luck stowing an 8 ft. halberd in your 5" wallet.
