Why I am disappointed with the Beta

Hey guys, first of all I really looked forward to the Beta and had fun playing the parts which worked. Secound I know that Beta is Beta :slightly_smiling:
Still… Its ok if you push away releases if you want to give us a polished version and so on.

This was obviously not the case. How did this Build pass QA? Some big critical bugs, forgetting to upload files, I see threads with people, who have problems getting their keys/downloads, all over (not a QA thing but still).

Besides that the Beta is a bug fest… as expected and not a problem in it self. But its not a pleasent experience if you are scared that every action you do could crash the game (talking to npc, lockpicking, fade to black cutscenes and so on). I am looking besides the glitches and bad performance on many systems, that are to be expected in a beta.

But corrputed saves, game crashing, missing sounds and so on just make it a very unpleasent experience. For example I spent around 3-4h to try to workaround the problem that I dont get teleported to the last battle. Its hugely frustrating to not be able to play the big battle, but rather trying all sorts of crazy workarounds which wont help. (Played the quest again for 2 times, walked their on my own (a huge pain), all… and I mean all dialog options tried. Nothing worked).

I gave up with the beta for now. I am really disappointed and hope the next release will be more polished and more pleasent to play.

I agree, but I don’t think Warhorse is technically in the wrong here.

Alpha by definition is a feature-incomplete and buggy build. Beta is a feature-complete buggy build that is slowly polished.

What we’re experiencing is the first beta iteration from alpha, so technically the worst beta build (hopefully).

I haven’t even done a single quest in the beta and have already crashed 5+ times and have a corrupted save that crashes me. I’m probably going to sit out until the first patch.

I also really wish they would do some light optimizations to at least get us all over 30fps. I’m getting headaches playing at 18fps on all lowest when I’m used to maxing out every game at 50+. They would get better feedback too, for example combat is frustrating and clunky on a low fps but it seems like it would be smoother and more responsive at a higher fps.

I agree. In after game survey in “negative section” all I wrote is just the need for better optimization and less crashes, because right now its very hard to test something when you spend half the time reloading crashed game  When this gets better, everything would be much easier to test properly

I believe the game have great potential. However, i am also unable to test it due to crashing and low frame rate.
Look forward to some updates soon.
