I’ll go with no patch this week and longer for the consoles peasants.
THe new DLC will be released soon… wait until then.
Am betting it will not be as good as could be if ashes establishes a track record.
It would be a welcome change if it turned out decent 'cause of the reaming they got from the ashes DLC by ignoring the players posts.
the tourney sounds interesting. do have a question though… was it common in medieval Europe/Bohemia to hold combat tourneys in times of invasion?
lover boy sounds like a scavenger hunt with clever Hans banter. a seeming step up from treasures of the past… unless there’s graverobbing too
i’d be surprised if WH had a patch before the release containing lover boy and tourney. for a release beforehand, it’d mean a compressed timeline to polish the next DLCs and to do much regression testing. hopefully, WH will prove me wrong… release now and then again for the DLCs without any platform suffering a performance loss
Seems something with your rig is not OK, I started playing with FX-8300 (4,7 OC) and R9 390 and I usually had 50-60 FPS at 1080p (medium/high)… 16GB DDR 3 and SSD of course.
Then I upgraded my PC to R7 2700X and GTX 1080 (16 GB RAM) and now, I’m playing 2K, with HD textures and some mods at 60-70 FPS with everything at full seeing distance and high/medium settings…
Game performance is extremly CPU dependent - with my 2700x all cores run at 30-40% (with FX it runs 70-80% on all cores) so try to focus on CPU during resolving your problem
System:
CPU: i7 5820k@4.6GHz
GPU: gtx titan x overclocked on water
SSD: samsung 850evo
Im constantly on 80fps (framelocked) with everything on ultra, 1440p och HD textures.
Feels like some allready said, that something isnt as it should be with OPs rigg.
So, ball in OPs court -
Maybe some frame limiting software (vsync at half monitor refresh rate cause it cannot hold 60fps?),…
Or a 4k monitor?
Some trick antialiasing being forced to override game antialiasing…?
I am also disappointed with the Ashes DLC, the pre-release trailer offered more than what was delivered. The Lord Capon DLC cannot be any worse. It is stil an enjoyable game.
Hi,
I see your low fps related to your amount of ram. 16gb is the recommended spec to run KCD and this is all the ram in your machine, so, if you expect videocard give best graphical results, you should increase your ram to 32 gb.
This game is different to what your use to. It does not rely heavily on the GPU as you are use to. Instead it Stream builds and so places a heavy load on the CPU. having a good CPU with at least 6 threads but better is 8-12 threading for the CPU to get the data in and out it needs.
I don’t understand why you only get 30fps with a 1080ti and an i7 7700k both oc?
I get between 61 and the highest 103fps, it drops to 61 when I’m on the horse running through the town’s, it can sometimes drop a bit lower and average around 78 to 88fps on ultra 1080p, anti-aliasing on SMAA 2TX, motion blur off, LOD, Object, & Vegetation Distance on max.
I’m using i7 5820k oc from 3.30ghz to 4.37ghz and an evga ftw 1080 oc from 1721mhz boost 1860mhz oc to 2025mhz, 16gb 3000mhz ram.
Have you tried uninstalling Nvidia driver and use Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode to do a proper job of uninstalling it? And also in Task Manager end task any unwanted softwares that you do need running in the background?
Also is everything updated? Nvidia or if your using AMD, Windows and even your motherboards softwares like the chipsets or your motherboards bios! All these can help in getting the most out of your hardware.
Also if your using and i7 7700k with a 1080ti is your power supply more than enough to power those plus your fans, and RGB strips you may have and also you drives, ssd’s or hdd. I would have thought, if your using i7 & the 1080ti that your using a ssd to run the game?
I’m using a 1000watt power supply because I’ve got 1 M.2 ssd, 3 normal ssd’s and 3 mechanical drives plus 2 DVD & Blu-ray so I need 1000 to be safe, because if you have just enough power being supplied without knowing your on the limit you could be over working the power supply plus this will have a bottle neck affect on gameplay and the frame rates.
Sorry for the long message, if it was me I would be doing all this just to try and eliminate what could be the cause of low frames rates?
Hope I could help.
He doesn’t need 32gb of ram? The game uses just short of 8gb from what I’ve noticed. So 16gb is bang on, even 12gb would be more than enough.
Yup, ssd fixed slow texture loading but made the FPS drops hard, only in performance hungry places, like sprinting through rattay on horseback, my ssd is a decent one though, M4 crucial. In ahci mode too which supposedly makes it faster. Probably my cpu can’t keep up not the SSD be my guess. Old sandybridge 4 core. 3.6ghz all cores. I prefer slow loading textures to huge FPS drops so went back to mechanical
I run it on desktop and a laptop.
Desktop CPU: I5 3570k. Lots of stuttering. FPS can go as low as 40, but the micro stuttering is really what annoys me.
Laptop CPU: I7 7700HQ: Very smooth. Even in cities. Just when there are really big crowds at night, it goes down, but it then lags consistently, no micro stutter.
So I was wondering, since the clock of the desktop is good, why it happens. Comparing the CPUs, the main difference is threads. 4 vs 8. So maybe threads have a huge impact on the micro stuttering?
If you prefer slow loading textures to frame drops won’t that make the game look a bit choppy? If it works for you, it works. I would have thought a mech drive would have made it worse tho?

I have the second fastest 1080 and just as I’ve mentioned in my replies just above your post I don’t have any issues. I can get over 100fps and the lowest is 61 and that when I’m on horse galloping through the towns. Maybe you have an issue somewhere.
Are you getting low frame rates with other games?

We are taking about this setting (first posting).
There is no Video or another evidence for his low FPS.
Do we all agree, that with a 1080TI it is not possible to have such a bad performance (max FPS in this game)???
If yes, I will close this…
Choppy ? Makes things look a bit ugly till the textures load but it’s better than constantly dropping down to unplayable frames as in below 30
Games smooth otherwise, another thing that drives me nuts is how long it takes when changing graphic setting for first time, takes about quarter of a frikin hour ffs
