As I only recently started reading these forums, I have a lot of catching up to do on my reading here. As I read these posts, I do “like” posts, even some that are older. I am curious why the forums limit the number of posts I can “like” in one day? I like giving credit where credit is due, so not being able to “like” a post that I did enjoy or agree with seems, well, odd.
I visited discourse forum (deveopers of this forum platform).
It appears that limit to likes is there for anti-abuse reasons.

Not having any sort of rate limiting in your web application is an open invitation to abuse.

LMAO–codinghorror. OMG, someone is going to “like” every one of the 500,000 posts on the forum! The horror of it all! So each and every post will get one more “like” than they have now, as you can only “like” a post one time anyway! I swear, I sometimes believe some people have been dropped on their head one time too many, or brained with a ball peen hammer. That statement gives new meaning to the word asinine!
Going through the dicource forum it apeared that these likes can be somehow connected with likes on facebook, twitter etc.
Edit: Or maybe not.
Here is the topic if you want to learn something more.
Unlimited likes are great tool for spambots and other unfriendly bots on every forum. So its precautious measure.
