What if i want to play just a normal craftsman?
So if im not interested to follow the storyline and just to do my every day work… as a :
Smith (not specialized)
Weaponsmith
Armorer
Bowmaker
Weaver (making cloth and clothes)
Alchemy
Farmer (going out using seeds for my fields, having aninmals)
Leatherworker
Hunter

Jewelry maker
Miner
Dyer/Dipper
etc…
put your ideas in there i know its not possible to make it all but maybe there will be a few ideas wich could get into the game

I wouldn’t mind seeing the ability to fish.

Brewing mead or beer and making wine could be fun mini games.

I’d like to have an option to make my own custom bows and arrows in-game

Weapon smiting, the harder the mini-game the better the swords, axes and pikes you get

Well because of the story the main character might be a well trained smith, so why not focus on that and make it very complex. Gather the many needed ressources first while traveling the world and trading with the local merchants who might be able to travel much further as the player might be able too. And then the smith have to find some other smith who might be able to share their equipment for a little fee. Forging a blade is very complex and difficult to ballance so the player might be able to smith tools and nails at the beginning of the game and in the later game while honing his skills he might be able to craft his own blades and some kind of armor, because such kind where expensive in the past.

Also fishing and hunting (getting meat and hides and such kinds) might be a good add to the game. While I think farming and making Jewelry is far to time extensive and Jewelry might be far to difficult to make for an ordinary smith.
I can’t imagine how it might be possible to wait for month till the seeds grow and than earning money with it in an rpg where you haven’t the time for it… at least it doesn’t seem to have seasons in it but I might be wrong.

Alchemy would be far off the scales too because I don’t know if the smith can even read or count.

Actually, I would like to see a little building strategy in the game.
Even farmers would be interesting, but how Fallen_Angel writes all right, that could be quite boring in terms of the long growth phases.
Hunting and fishing are “rapid business” and feed the man / woman. Moreover, trading should be possible in the sense of supply and demand. This may be on a market, or directly as an exchange of goods for goods by “haggling”. This type of property exchange could be very exciting for crafts and depict the former reality well.

stonemason? haha, my favorite kind of ‘crafting’ is always to do with building places. I think adding a customizable home would be fun.

I would like to see some realistic smithing, but I’m not really sure how they would go about it… Hammering out impurities and cooking the metal seem like they wouldn’t translate well into a game without seeming corny.
