Wildlife, animals,herd, fields and ownership

First of all, I want to say how must I’m exciting by this game. Secondly, english is not my native language so the following should sound clumsy and unsubtle and a little rude : my apologies !

Ok, we got a dog ! … with quests … It seems more like Lassie or Rintintin’s stuff than realistic ; Dungeons & Dogs ?
Anyway, it’s like that.

I would like to tell you about somethings I really want to see in a REALISTIC medieval RPG :
In some video footages, we can see the character running after sheeps, killing a boar with bow & arrow and riding through the fields.
Let’s talk about the animal’s behaviour.
According to me, sheeps must act like sheeps (or other cattle): be and try to stay in a herd (not running in all directions) it’s a detail, but we talk about realistic stuff.
In the same way, you can’t kill a boar with 1 arrow ! Trust me, shoot one in a leg and it will not try to kill you (like in any video game…) it will run… for his life. Up to you to track it.
For the moment I found horses much responding … horses also have a behavior.

But it’s not the real purpose of his topic. In medieval society, everything belonged to someone (nobles or/and church…) and everything was a ressource : If you kill a boar, even a rabbit without the right of hunting … you risked a lot if you were caught ! For those of you in Europe, go visite the castles prisons : On walls, you can read many inscriptions about people jailed for picking up chestnuts or dead wood for exemple so imagine if they kill a boar !!

So : poach, riding after herd or in fields (and by the way sack crops…) must be the best way to finish with a broken hand at least (according to the medieval laws…) !
Thanks for reading this.

true.
(+ hunting could be added as sport/combat training/ritual for nobles and theire mans)

I second this.
Except for the dog. I like the idea of a dog companion if it is implemented the right way. Hunting is sth I want to see in the game but you should not be able to kill the game in close combat nor should it be too easy. It is possible though to kill game with a single arrow. I think as a player you should scare the game if you walk carelessly and you should have to persue it through the forest if the forst arrow misses or only hurts the animal. Though risking a possible fine if you encounter the kings guards or whatsoever while hunting.
