The typical 1st person FOV for PC game on a PC monitor is between 85 and 95.
Console “peasants” (no hard feelings) play at 55-65, because they are far away from a TV screen.
All things said, 85-95 is a lot better all the way, not only because motion sickness, but because realism and awareness. 85-95 FOV gives you peripheral vision and control of your surroundings. Most people who cry out for 3rd person actually doesn’t want that. They just want a better made 1st person, with increased FOV + sideways awareness and eliminated motion sickness.
With all that said, @warhorse stated that they want to release the same version of the game on all platforms. That causes the delays. Although in this Beta stage it is acceptable to use console command to adjust FOV, it is absolutely non-acceptable to do this in a final release for 1st person PC game. If they insist of having the PC and console version the same, then they should make a slider option in graphics to adjust the FOV between 55 and 95 and to make sure that the whole range of FOV works like a charm in the gameplay. No glitches, no clipping, no excuses… because I suspect that @warhorse will keep the FOV 60 by default even for PC version and they won’t take the blame for any bugs or glitches we encounter when adjust the FOV manually via console. PC gamers are not a second-hand customers to be offered a sick console FOV and be told to use the console to fix it with dubious results. Right now it is acceptable, later on it is not.
Just my 2 cents on the topic. Seeing the Gamescom video, I can praise the work done by the team so far! Keep up and good luck!
