Will it run on Windows 10?

Will the game support Windows 10 (official release seems to be scheduled for June/July this year)?
Available platforms just says “PC (Windows 7 x64 or Linux)” but nothing about Windows 10 so I’m wondering if there are any plans to ship the game Windows 10 ready or have it made compatible by later patches.

It would be really great if that OS could be supported. I guess until the game is released many are going to switch OS (not just those who have already pledged but also a large mass of potential buyers; plus supporting the new Windows also means giving the game a longer “lifetime” so to say). Also I really don’t want to miss out on this great game when switching…

Edit: the only categories I can use are “Other languages” could somebody please move this over to “Hardware & System”?

I am deadly confident it will run on (64x) Windows 10. It is mostly Cryteks responsibility to make Cryengine compatible. It must be cause it would kill their business (hope it is not dead already? Any rummors our German neighbors?). There is plenty of time to make it compatible as the game comes out “sometimes in the middle of the year, somewhere around the summer 2016”… and W10 comes out before end of this year.

EDIT: dont forget thay will have 2 more acts coming out. Majority of PC gamers will upgrade (for free) by than. That new DirectX looks very promising so far too.

The next 2 Acts aren’t a sure thing. It all comes down to how well this game does.

W10 will be released on PC around July 2015 and other platforms will follow later. Therefore chances are good that DirectX 12 will be supported by CryEngine during the development of KCD but implementation and use of DX12 features depends on how much needs to be changed by Warhorse to make good use of it. According to several sources there’s a significant performance boost so CryEngine should focus on that implementation.

Also by the release of KCD the majority of gamers might have switched to W10 already since it’s a free upgrade for 1 year. But I don’t know how the compatibility of current graphics card is provided. Directx 11.1 was a fail regarding compatibility.

True, but:
It was said during kickstarter that 300,000 British Pounds is about 10% of the total budget.
=> Total budget may be around 3,000,000 GBP / 4,655,100 USD
OK, I guess they were talking just about game development cost so lets add some millions for marketing + costs caused by delays and what not…
But even if I exaggerate final budget to be 10 mills USD and count with final price of 30 USD for a copy (It will get higher), Half a million copies sold could be considered as success already. Now look how the genre sells. I am not worried.

Please dont laught at me if I am completely off, I dont want to pretend to be clever economist… but I am willing to take bets that 2nd act will come out. It MUST I have pledged for it already!

I did some 2mins research on that. Seems that I will by fine with GTX 970 (and anyone with Maxwell)
"We’re more than ready. GPUs built on our Maxwell GPU architecture – such as our recently released GeForce GTX 970 and GeForce GTX 980 – fully support DX12. - See more at: http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2015/01/21/windows-10-nvidia-dx12/#sthash.Q8WboLUW.dpuf"
It may not be the case for W7 though, we will see…
"More than 100 game developers are already working with DX12 through Microsoft’s early access program, Microsoft said Wednesday"
Lets hope that CryTek / Warhorse are not left behind…

TBH: quoting PR doesn’t provide 100% technical certainty at nVidia. Lately the marketing and technology departments didn’t communicate properly with each other to provide accurate information on compatibility or technical specs of their cards.
