Wolves and Bears in forests?

Interesting idea, although probably difficult to implement in the game. I think they could first add small animals (ex: different birds flying around, rats, fish) and improve animal AI, which would add to the immersion. I mean, it would be extremely rare to bump straight into a wild deer in a forest, or be standing right beside a hare, like it would not care:laughing: But maybe it would not be hard to put foxes in game for instance, and they could catch hares.

You know this last week is the first time i have been able to play KCD. Riding through the forests they feel so barren. I was reading the description for the Bane potion and it mentions using it against bears “It is good for hunting bears or poisoning the wells of foes” i honestly thought i would be fighting bears at some point. Really no bears of wolves? I really do love this game but it seems so empty sometimes, the wilderness areas that is.

Deer, boar and hare… no wolves or bears

Lots of players would like them as well as other animals found in Bohemia

Methinketh they be on their way…

Earliest KCD screenshot I have seen is a dev with a bear model up on their screen vertices highlighted and textured…
From 2014.

No doubt game was designed with them on mind.
Just one of many things ‘on the cutting room floor’.

More birds!

Lots of stuff that is lacking that was obviously in game at some point.

And this isnt dlc that is on disc and finished but hidden behind a paywall.

I bet we get this stuff free - just a wait.

If the only cost is waiting: where do I sign up?

Wolfram and Hart (law firm from TV series ‘Angel’) would be the mob to contact to get BearBoar and Bird

Yes, patience. In the current on demand world, patience is regrettably in short supply… for impatient folks such as myself, more communication about vision/plan and less communication about Steam numbers would help…

Very true sadly

One bear needs at last a hunting ground of 25 km², so only one bear should be in the game area.
A pack of wolves (5 to 15 animals) has a territory of 200 km². They wouldn’t be often in game. Only if the pack rises some young wolves and has a den in the area.

Pic? Could you post it pls

in one of the vids. the one on environments

Love the look of the forests but they could do with some more stuff in them.

Few wolves and the odd bear would keep one on their toes.

Actually I think my os updated and took away my old method. … used to be like home key and vol down or vol up and power or some key combo

It would help me- anytakers?

Edit: Blacksmiths’ shot below nails it. Same bear I saw.

I think you made a typo:
DEAR boars and hare… no wolves or bears. Rejoice furry things: you are safe… For now!

Thanks for understanding.))

New poster here, rather revive this thread than start a new one just on foxes.

The game really should have foxes and maybe lynx. The forests, while beautiful from a graphics point of view, are mostly empty except for a ton of hare, some deer, and occasional boar. The game has no predators.

Wolves, as others have mentioned, probably should not appear in the game in large numbers - or else KCD would be like Skyrim where Henry has to fight off three wolves every mile or so. Same with bears because KCD’s map only represents one county of Bohemia.

But foxes and perhaps lynx would be easier to add from the Dev’s point of view because these animals don’t attack humans (avoiding issues with NPCs), don’t attack large adult herbivores like deer or boar, but do attack small ones like hare (the game really has too many hares).

Also, when were rabbits introduced into Bohemia? Rabbits, not hares.

I think birds, insects, and reptiles would be nice additions to the game, but obviously that’s not a high priority unless the game has a long life cycle and gets a graphics update. Also, considering how bad Henry starts off in archery, bird hunting would not be very productive unless the Devs add a falconry mechanic.
