I had something similar happen to me on a different quest.

I’ve just started quest in Uzhitz where you have to find lost horse. But first I chased thief, that was running away. When I returned to town, I heard screams about dead body and saw people running somewhere, than followed Bailiff to find dead stableboy Voizek(or what’s his name?) on some random crop plot. Because of that I couldn’t continue that quest, so I had to reload and watched closely after him whole next day. But nothing happened this time. Weird.
I’ve had same thing happen.was behind a women and she just said fuck it, I don’t wanna live no more and dropped down dead

It’s nice to know the player isn’t the only active criminal in the game. OK, sure, we all know the roads are invested with bandits, most games have towns with zero crime rates and only the player is up to no good 
No there realy are some random crimes happening. One day I saw an NPC pickpocketing another NPC and getting caught and running away in Talmberg inn.
Yeah, I saw that happen as I was entering Uzhitz for the 1st time. So I chased the thief down and beat him to a pulp. Just as he hit the ground, the victim caught up and gave me 40 groshen as a reward. There were no guards so the thief eventually woke up and scarpered.
These really are the small details that make this whole world totally alive

Hey man, Kunesh tried to change for the better. He deserves some RESPECTS on his name. 
Yea I did the same and lured some bandits to town once and the guards didn’t do anything was rather disappointing. I see them attack each other roads so why won’t they defend town? It’s kinda dumb.

I’ve seen more action in towns lately. Maybe they fixed it.
