1.4, why did you FCKING DESTROYED this game for me?

DAMN!!! I had no fcking bugs AT ALL beside one door that was too small (got through with some crouching) and random encounters didnt work for a while.

BUT NOW ITS A MESS!!!
Okay look, I saved before 1.4 a short while after the first seige in the abandoned village, just before I had to investigate Merhojed things. ALL savegames after the Bandit-Boss-Fight (Is his english name Runt? I dont know) now start and say “Quest failed Merhojed” and “Quest failed look after Matthias”

WHAAAT?

ok I loaded the one before the boss fight! I killed him and no FCKING CUT SCENE STARTED, I was streight able to loot him.

Okay so I loaded before the church is opened, mid of the siege. NOW FCKING BANDITS STAY WHERE THEY ARE AND MY COMPANY TOO! I HAVE TO GO TO THE BANDITS, THEN THY FOLLOW ME AND THEN, CLOSE ENOUGH TO MY BUDDYS THEY HELP ME. So after that bullshitting teasering every damn single enemy, there was no cut scene AGAIN AND THEY ALL STAND AROUND THE DOOR AND NOONE STARTS TO BREAK IN!

Okay I loaded the Beginning of the siege, the first cut scene worked (moving wagon) but AGAIN THE SAME WITH EVERYONE STANDING STILL BEFORE THE CHURCH!!!

now please tell me, do I have to start all over again? OR WILL IT BE THE SAME ONCE AGAIN I PLAYED TO THIS POINT. I WILL WAIT THEN FOR ANOTHER “BUGFIX” BEFORE I CONTINUE THIS GAME.

yeah I still like this game, but after I had to wait over 4 damn years, what was the deal of letting me wait a little more and FIX ALL THAT STUFF BEFORE? I WOULD EVEN PAID MORE IF IT WORKED, AND I HAVE PAID 150$ ALREADY FOR THIS GAME!

Okay after calming down, maybe one of you could load one of my mentioned saves and try it, is it just my safegame or a general issue?

How can someone load your save if you don’t actually post it?

that is a automatic save, both of the mid-siege autosafe points (checkpoint saving) so everyone has it, as long as he played until the first siege

Most of us delete old saves so if you seriously want someone to test this out, post the save.

How can someone test this? You have made different decisions in your game that other people have made.

Specifc to this game- it is doing cool stuff in the back end and hence why we get a range of errors (that to many people dont make sense how they can happen).

The game keeps track of events in the background and I believe this is likely matched to the playline. It is for specific reasons to help with player immersion.

The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion was the first game I saw acknowledge doing it- it keeps key decisions the player does saved in a backend somewhere so gamers couldnt load up saves and try alternating options without consequence/or keep save scrubbing some random loot chest until they got a specific item…

What I have noticed with KCD is that after patching it takes a solid gameplay chunk of time (might be location based and therefore require moving around) to rebuild the backend.

Meshboxes misaligned on Level of Detail changes after 1.3.4 came out… for about forty minutes- and then it was golden.

I suggest you reload a game and then do nothing major for a bit. Certainly no fast travelling… let the world catch up with what is happening ‘so to speak’.

In fairness and so you vent at me I will play devils advocate on this one and acknowledge that most every serious rpg game since 2000 onwards have been treated by their playerbases that you wait until a few patches are out before you start playing seriously. (Ducks thrown crockery)
Its just the nature of multipathed rpgs that they are the hardest to playtest and hardest to retropatch and keep save games.

Saying that- I do believe Warhorse Studios put in serious due dilligence to keep existing saves working.

Just play a tonne of dice rounds or shoot some timber floating down the steam for a wee bit, first, and then see if ‘slow travelling’ places gives correct triggers.

Why? Why can’t do this on its own during first post-release load? Or better yet, take last save file, generate simulation, build backend from it as part of install?

Why won’t it bake you a turkey pot pie while you wait? Why don’t you take the help you are given?

Trying to ask a mechanics question. Whitedragem entertains such questions. If you don’t like it, stick your pie where the sun doesn’t shine

Of course it could be made to do that.
Black Ops had a patch shortly after release that would load the level and black the screen/pause the game world… and then the camera would be made to ‘fly’ all around the level.
This had the advantage of having all textures layer/load in their respective locations and stopped a ‘one two frame’ late texture load that the game had.

It was the first game that used my GTX460m’s RAM well- having 1.5GB onboard.
It was a new thing to be playing with game worlds/maps that were so large AND mapping so much texture space. It was a novel solution and one that worked well.
It did add a few seconds of delay -showing only the black screen whilst it did so…

But yeahh… game world pause, fly camera around/ give game world some time to do this…

Given that the fast travel renders the game in rapid time ‘behind the scenes’ (the devs did this so that the worlds AI could play out) it shows that there are some seriously cool ‘large world scale’ stuff going on.
They will need to get a handle on this, going forward… especially if they wish to support mods.
It might add a small delay when loading,… but should help to create a more stable/reliable gameworld.
sure-speculation on our part that it can be done ‘easily’ (by adding a wait after load)
I really think this is a tricky one… .and will prove hard to implement… and once the game is more stable and isn’t getting patches every five minutes (okay/week) it shouldn’t be so much of an issue. So probably not worth devoting too much time too.
repeat: for mods it might prove essential… as we might end up updating mods more often that the game…

@Whitedragem Very interesting and much appreciated. Thanks!

have you actually downloaded it and given it some playtime or are you trying to get a burn going on everything this studio does for no reason other than…(?)

seriously. qualify your statement ,… this is a forum… what do you mean?

Same issue as the OP. I went to bed last night after Nest of Vipers. I want to play some more tonight and Questions and Answers is listed as a failed quest. I go to an earlier save and Q&A won’t even start. This is the main quest, so I’m dead in the water. Have seen others post the exact same issue. They broke the MQ.

You would think this would have showed up during testing…

alright. so there iISan issue for you.
Awesome… now you have given something we can work with.

I speculated a while ago that there are some things we can do that will a)help ourselves, and/or b)help the developers…
given I was only told yesterday that there isn’t seperate bug threads for respective platforms- Icompletely question the ability of the devs to find out key and relevant info (Frelmedieval had mentioned some very topic relevant issues with regards to this).
So lets do a lil science (and lets science the shit out of this)…

if you could PMme please your platfrom, whether you clean downloaded the game/or just ran the patch. what type of drive you have it installed on and if that drive has ever been filled (and not formatted since).
This won’t be an inquiry for all issues users may be experiencing… though Ido believe that many of these things are interrelated… (some users being upset for having the trifecta of the big bugs)

I know that there is a counter ‘rant’ to my words like -all other games play fine/other people get the issue so it isn’t my system/I shouldnt have to troubleshoot etc…
but if you like being vocal… lets see if we can net you some words worth sharing (solutions).

I like identified problems. Ilike consistent problems.
As a support worker its the intermittent issues that suck the most.
If this IShappening and happening on a wide scale- then lets fix it, yes?

My test would be Rattay training ground thru upper castle to hill outside South Gate, on Warhorse Jenda (or faster) with military horseshoes, at full gallop. If bridges don’t render by time youre on them, test fail

Whelp, might as well stop the download. My game only had a couple minor bugs in 1.3.4, I’ll take that over MQ break in 1.4. I’ll download the hotfix that will doubtless be following this.

alright: @other peole get the issue@- no responsibility to take! (figured as much) no worries.
