A different perspective with having Women in the game!

Um… do you know that Kingdom Come is a story based single player RPG? No multiplayer at all? Or do I missunderstand something here?

No. Because thats the point of the game. We want to be historical accurate, we want to be realistic. We could sell the game even better with dragons and elves, but we don´t want to do that. We want to create a realistic game, even if it is difficult and our fanbase also want to have the game this way. That is the key selling point, the point number one.
Should we not be allowed to do this?

Thats the problem. We don´t make this game so we can avoid to put a woman into the lead role. We want to create a realistic medieval RPG in this time frame because it was a very interesting time frame in czech history. And if you do so, you will notice that it is not easy to put a woman into the lead role. The idea of the game was not: “How can we make an immersive game with a female lead character”, and it surely was also not “how can we make a game were you play as a man” but it was “How can we make an immersive game about medieval history of czech republic?”.
Because we love history and we want to keep it realistic.

We don´t. We don´t want to change it only to make a female character. If we make a female character then we put the same effort into it as we do for the male character and we will do with passion to historical accuracy.

Yes. Thats what happenend in the game. The village where our main character lived, Silver Skalice was torched down in 1403 by Sigismunds cuman army. Most of the villagers were killed. Bohemia was occupied. Only because you didn´t find any evidence don´t mean there is none. Thats why we as czech studio make a game about czech history, because we can visit the places, talk with historians. Thats why we don´t make a game about England, France or Japan. So we can dig deep into it!

But the game is not about the hussite wars, not yet. Kingdom Come Deliverance is like the prequel to the hussite wars. What was the situation shortly before the hussite wars? How could this all happen?
Jan Hus was burned in 1415, the game takes place in 1403, so no, Jan Hus will not be burn at the stake in Kingdom Come Deliverance. Maybe in a later game, but we are not there yet.

That is again something we don´t want to make. You are not a King, you are a common guy, you don´t change history, history effects you. You are no Superman, you don´t safe the world, you are just a pawn in a game of chess. What is around you is beyond your ability. That is also something we want to show, that life is not easy and that you will not rise to the top, you will never lead an army in kingdom come.

Do you have any idea how much efford it will be to develop such a game into full detail?

Great, and now the list for 1403 bohemia please. I have told you why we have choosen this place and this timeframe.
Medieval ages is a timeframe of 1000 years around all the world. You can´t point to 3rd century Syria to point out something for 15th century Bohemia.

And als @Leiste said. The Hussite wars does bring a greater opportunity to create a female character who could be seen on the battlefields.

Thats correct. @Katha-MartinLuther you are asking for a different game. We can´t do this.

Hey OP how about you stop trying to take a massive dump on my dream game.

QFT…

And seriously, who the fucks makes such a long post, arguing about absolutely irrelevant points?
I mean, instead of spending 2 hours trying to write those MASSIVE walls of text, she could have just learn something about the game before posting and we wouldn´t have to waste our time here…

You are still not getting the core point of the game.
The devs want to make a historical game set in Bohemia in 1403.
That is the game I and many, many others backed on kickstarter.

To make this game as promised one “rule” is to use historical gender roles.
As such every single plot, quest, NCP reply would need to be made in in two versions.
Some quests, like infiltrating a monastery is simply not plausible if playing a female.

Could it be done? possible with a lot more time and a lot more money… But they don’t have the money and the game have already been delayed…

Also you seem to think we can change history… Iam not sure where you got that Idea?
If anything Iam pretty sure we will just be making sure that history is followed and our freedom is within the limits of what our sources tell us happened.

Also you really should read up on the history of the game and the company. Had they just wanted to make a typical RPG they would have gotten the money true the usual system… and not been forced to use Kickstarter.

And adding unhistorical stuff, like female warriors or not having the NPCs react differently to a male blacksmith than to his sister would be breaking the promise of a realistic medieval game.

And they from the start decided that we will be playing a specific character… not someone with no background like in skyrim.

What you are asking for is a different game… different to what the devs want to make and different from what we backed the game for…

Also the questing of female warriors have been debated a gain and again.
Sticking to central Europe around 1400 there are none. (when we get to the Hussite rebellion a few years late peasant women properly did fight… but that is in the future compared to this game)

and NONE of you examples are even remotely relevant to this location and time. Different cultures different times… make them all totally irrelevant.

Going a bit further geographically and year, we have plenty of female nobles doing military stuff.
They are doing this because of the status as nobles… not because they are trained warriors.

Forgive me, but another useless thread. I pity the OP for spending hours to write that post but gameplay and other things are the priority, and as I said before this game depicts women in a lot more humane way than other games.

Again, pardon me, I do not want to sound aggressive, but IT IS VERY EASY TO TELL HOW OTHERS SHOULD MAKE A GAME. IT IS EASY TO COMPLAIN COMPLAIN COMPLAIN. AFTER I STARTED MAKING SMALL ASSETS FOR GAMES I REALISED HOW HARD IT IS TO MAKE GAMES. I wish the Devs the best.Hope they continue to strive for their kickstarter promises.

Gonna say this again because it seems to have been missed amongst all the fluff:

If you want a female sword-slinging protagonist in this game, wait for the modding community. Not only can I GUARANTEE that turning Henry into Henrietta is going to happen from somebody, it’s probably going to be one of the first (if not THE first) large-scale mods (it’s probably going to come down to a race between turning Henry female and a 3rd Person Camera).

The thing of the historical situation is that while it’s not IMPOSSIBLE that a woman could do all the things Henry is expected to do during the, it would be a RADICALLY different experience, and the developers simply don’t have the resources to make what will ultimately be two different games.

Keep in mind that Henry isn’t a nobleman, or even a knight. He’s a blacksmith who gets dragged kicking and screaming into these events. He’s a COMMONER, and that is going to make dealing with people (especially the nobility) hard enough because it means he’ll be reaching beyond the grasp of his station. While there was a degree of upward mobility for the English, who never truly adopted feudalism to the same extent as the French or Germans, on the Continent your social status was much more rigidly set, which means even for as limited as Henry’s standing will be it still makes him a rather extraordinary individual for the setting.

Now, imagine the same situation for a WOMAN. Not only will she be contending with her station, but the fact that she’s stepping FAR outside what were deemed a woman’s place in society is going to threaten a LOT of people. Gender roles during the Middle Ages were strictly defined by the Church as much as it was secular laws of the time, to the point that a respectable woman wasn’t even permitted to visit a tavern unescorted (I’ve variously seen this as either a cultural thing, if not an outright law). She’d have a MUCH more difficult time being taken seriously by quest givers, if not reacted to with outright hostility simply for upsetting the natural order of things (and not just by men. Even other women would view her as an upstart who doesn’t know her place). To say NOTHING of how a nobleman would react to her.

None of this says a woman COULDN’T do any of the things Henry will be doing during the game, the point is that it would lead to an incredibly different, and a significantly harder, experience.

But ultimately here’s the thing: You’re asking them to change the core concept of the game into being just another Elder Scrolls, Forgotten Realms, or DragonAge. These are all games where gender doesn’t matter and the character is created by the player to be whatever they want. But Kingdom Come isn’t that. It’s a game about a particular moment in time, following a particular individual’s journey through it.

If that’s not to your liking, there’s PLENTY of games out there that are already doing the “Generic RPG Protagonist” thing. So maybe Kingdom Come isn’t the game for you, and you should look into one of those other games. But coming in and trying to tell the developers how to make their own game isn’t going to make a difference.

I see that you replied to me. Maybe you wanted to reply to OP?

Yeah, sorry. Bleh, not a fan of this forum software.

WALLS OF TEXT! GET YOUR WALLS OF TEXT HERE!

But really, how is this still open?

Noone is unruly yet.

Just enjoying the face palms.

As soon as I saw the link to a video from Anita Sarkesian I knew the OP’s a lost cause. Read on a bit further to to verify that yup, OP knows nothing about the game. OP’s just trying to push their putrid agenda and poison another game.

OP go kickstart your own game with your own vision. See how many backers you get. Protip: no one will back your game because Sarkesian’s ideas are stupid, out of touch with reality and completely incompatible with fun.

I’m going to close this thread, because the subject is completely irrelevant and is not factual. Thanks y’all.
