A little disappointment

No, that’s not what I mean. You can fight. But when you lose, they should either kill you or take your weapon and hold on to you. Losing a fight to the death and then starting a conversation with the person that almost killed you without making sure that they aren’t a threat anymore is just unbelievably absurd.

It’s the equivalent of a policeman who goes with a gun in his hand after a murderer and then stops in front of them to ask them questions.

But look how weird it’s implemented. Can’t you see how weird that looks?

What in particular is weird in this scene?

That he just stands there in front of you saying that. Have you ever seen a policeman doing that?
(Not this sentence but saying something like that to a suspect standing in front of them)

Everything but the rot bit yes. Ive seen police do this on a regular basis.

The main difference is this is a game that allows you time to make decisions, you know the whole RPG factor.

It’s not really a big deal, immersion breaking or not. Also this might not be the case every time this happens. I’d prefer you trying things out first and see where it goes from there. Remember the game isn’t out yet, judge it after playing it yourself. The forums will always be here. Just don’t make it seem like an argument or force your opinions on to someone else.

So, you have seen policemen running with a gun after a murderer/robber and then when they almost get them, they put the gun away, stay still and say: “Jail time for you.”
?
I know it like that: They first wrestle you down when you flee, handcuff you, and THEN they could say something like that.

I didn’t force my opinion on anyone. I don’t know why you think that.

Didn’t say you did, just don’t.

What is the medieval equivalent of a modern cop aiming your gun at you? Should somebody be standing there with their bow ready to loose at all times like in the worst movies? Or would the guard just holding his sword in his hand be enough?

Yes but not second title but with patches/dlcs

they put the gun away,

Okay, if this is the point,… I understand what you mean…

I think this is because of alam level of the guards. To talk they must lower the alam level (>>put the weapon away).
It should be possible to change this optical issue, BUT with much work…

Realistically the guards in medieval ages would most likely wrestle down a fleeing robber, hold on to them and then they would interrogate them. Just like the cops today.

Something that would impact AI that much most certinaly not be in a patch or DLC.

You’ve been around long enough you should know already how much trouble there has been getting the AI to function as intended.

Something like this that seems highly insignificant can alter the balance dramatically.

Based on what?

The AI-System is a modular system, so changes are not that hard.

The most work lies in the QS and checks whether this will break the game or not, you are right.

Why would it be such a big effort?
I would just make a little animation that the guards catch you and hold on to you. Then when you talk to them they hold on to you. That’s all. You’re a potential thief/murderer after all.

Again in that situation how do you propose to give the player a choice to fight after being confronted in such a way?

I’ve never seen or played a game that does what you’re describing and cutscenes don’t count. But I prefer to have a fighting chance and a decision, rather than being tackled and held against my will every time I steal a coin.

Simple. They say put the sword away!
If you don’t do it, you fight. If you do it, they hold on to you and interrogate you.
That’s what the police would do today.
