Well you could fix it this way, change the turning of the lock from the left joy stick to L2/LT, that way people are not trying to man-handle their controllers turning both joysticks in full circles . which is a Huge pain in the ass.) this eliminates having to focus on two joysticks and just one which would be the tumbler. you can even make the L2/LT button pressure sensitive so that hgow far/hard you press it decides the speed the lock turns. also the consol’s thumbsticks are no where near as accurate as a mouse. So widen the margine of error for the lockpicks a little bit. i could pick locks on pc version all day long and hardly break a lockpick. but when a VERY EASY lock on consol gives me more trouble then a very hard on PC, its redonkulous. Dunno call me a fool, an idiot but these are just my ideas on how to fix lockpicking and I think it would work great
it’s not that hard after lvling…it’s a pain in the but at first bit with alittle patience and perseverance it can be done. everything does not need to be made easier. there are lot more pressing matters then worrying about lockpicking if it was impossible then yeah fix it, but atm its ok not perfect but ok and works in a sense.
thing is , by the time My joystick gets half way around or a full rotation (near the bottom) its really hard for me to turn and I always end up breaking lockpicks. everytime. i might get lucky with 1 out of every 7-10 lockpicks and they can gewt exspensive. I am not saying make it super easy. but using both joysticks makes it far more difficult then i has to be ya know? plus its not just ME who says that its overly hard. anyways it was just an idea on how they can improve on it.
I will say compared to pc it is more of a pain cause you just hold a button down to turn the pick and use the mouse to find that sweet spot and stay In it. which is weird why they chose to use both analogs for the controller Instead of the method you pointed out which would mimic it.
which is why i suggested they change the turning of the lock part to L2/LT that way you can focus more on staying in the sweetspot and you dont run into the issue of your analog sticks getting stuck in one place.
When i cant rotate left stick, i rotate back a little and get back on track
Lock picking is extremely easy no need for developers to touch it rather them focus on bugs.
Lock picking is only difficult during first 10-20 locks therefore only focus on very easy locks and buy the beginner training and get your free training with the Miller near Rattay
After that very easy and easy lockpicks are not that bad and you seriously get use to it.
Then when you get your level higher it becomes extremely easy especially after getting some of the perks.
Only locks that stay hard for awhile is some of the very hard locks and that’s it.
Hope this helps this is what I’ve experienced on ps4.
Definitely recommend the perks:
-lasting lockpick
-deft grip
-lucky thief
-master thief
After those perks and by that level you should have no problem!
Also once you turn a little and fall out of the sweet spot for too long just back off and reset, give yourself a breather and start rotating again. I have also found that some lock positions work out easier for me then others and if you back out of picking the lock and go back in the location of the sweet spot generally moves; so try that if you get hung up back out before your pick breaks. Also, Savior Schnapps and save scum it lol
lockpiking not neeed a change on the consols training is the key
remember, a very easy lock is not very easy until you are able to do hard and what not. Henry is absolute garbage water at everything he does until he has done it for a while. Once youve level up lockpicking a bit and can try easy or harder then very easy will actually be very easy…if that makes sense
I agree, some people think skyrim lockpick was hard, so its a matter of learning this new way. I haven’t experienced many bugs and I’d prefer everyone had a good bug free experience so they could judge the game by its merits
Anyone who is not playing this game on console needs to stop weighing in on this topic immediately. It is NOT THE SAME as on PC. It took me about an hour of reloading to pick one very easy lock. On a PC I can do it no problem. The lockpicking system is broken on console, and needs to be fixed. Period.
Xbox player here
As is lockpicking will not be something i do. i spent over an hour reloading my save just to try and pick a very easy lock never got it. its past the point of being frustrating.
Worse than being frustrating IT IS BORING. The lockpick is a means to an end. A dumb hurdle to reach the next part of the story, which is the strong point of the game. The developers are self-sabotaging their game if they leave this as is.
You dont have to pick locks
You do if you want to be able to see certain parts of the story.
It must be beyond my point.
The only quests that have forced me to unlock a chest are thief quests. In the beginning before i got good at lock picking, id just knock the guy out and take his keys
Yeah, see, the thing is, that is dumb.
