About gore

The idea is to have the scores comparable to some degree between the games. Some games (such as Overgrowth or GTA V) don’t have dismemberment yet they score significantly higher than many that do, and as I mentioned frequently in the vids, wounds at the point of impact are waaaaaaaaaaaaay more important than rolling heads and chopped limbs. A game can still feel very nasty, gruesome, and most importantly, responsive even without dismemberment.
As for OFP - I did a review on Red River. Game definitely has potential (nice body damage responses and good disabled state) but there are a ton of odd activation issues and there’s no blood spilling at all.

As for BIA series, I reviewed Hell’s Highway. Sadly all games in the series have been lacking in terms of response though they have been marketed as gory and brutal.

just to get something out of the way guys with or with out gore this game is absolutely amazing and a lote of fun only 4 days left so excited!

I know this is getting off topic here, but I have an idea for multiplayer games and bodies+gore. If instead the body and gibs drop and is a separate entity from the map, have it actually become a part of the map so that way it doesn’t take up memory and such on the server so much. So eventually like on Red Orchestra you would have 400 bodies laying around, but are a part of the map. Plus you would see where people die most often, which would be cool.

But you know that the position has to sync with the npc model if you want gibs on the position of the map where you killed one guy. And that needs memory…
or i didnt understand the theory of your idea
But i like that… good requirements for modding community :sunny:

Well you’d have to find a system that wouldn’t take up more memory. If the body literally combined with the map itself it would remove a seperate entity that has the potential to move, create more shadows, essentially eliminate “random” things from happening with it.

Well as much as i love gore like killing floor 2 where you can utterly dismember and blow apart your enemies into pink mist, We have to be somewhat realistic with this request. That being said the likely hood we will get gibbed and dismembered enemies is slim outside the modding community which my hope is all platforms will have. Perhaps something as simple as various finishing moves depending on weapons and the body slowly gets drenched in blood along with the ground around it. That would eliminate the extra elements for say shattering their skull and sending pieces flying every which way. The game does need gore as wounds don’t just get absorbed by cloths the more blood and damage to a person the more should be showed to the player in essence giving them a kind of health bar of their enemy based on how bloody they are.

Just like overgrwoth

bloodmaps would be perfect as KCD already has a collision detection, so that bleeding could be applied on the correct impact points.

First off that video is kinda funny lol. But second i would think something like this would be easy for the devs to do its not to over the top no gibs just nice and bloody.

in the vids, kcd already has blood map type behavior. people need to dissociate medieval combat with flying limbs and decapitations. a lot of that is post mortem damage done to humilitate the deceased, executions of captured enemies, and artistic license on the manuscripts and tapestries to increase “readability” to the audience. in the midst of combat, broken limbs would be covered by layers of armor, wounds to unarmored and open skin would likely end the fight quickly without needing to prolong towards severe damage. a guy gets a big gash opened on his arm is likely done for, he wouldn’t stay in the fight long enough for more severe damage to occur. the intense but subdued style of gore in kcd is appropriate

That is what i would like to see . I do hope there is blood trail so you can hunt down wounded enemies though. The video is a great representation of something nice to see.
