About upcoming patch 1.3

They should make difficulty options like “casual pleb”, “soyboy” or “two left hands” as easy so casuals will know they’re bad, “easy, but slightly realistic” for what we have now.

I don’t know at what people would find hard about alchemy, the combat could be harder, lock-picking could be harder and pick-pocketing should be different, but certainly not easier.

The only game i expected to be HARD before buying is dark soul and maybe bloodborne.

But the devs said the game would be a hardcore experience, and most people don’t find it hard at all, or even hard enough. (Also both of those aren’t hard at all, just like this one.)

Just read your comment like you were a casual gamer

But I’m not, and the game is for hardcore players like myself and many others.

maybe you should avoid forums

This forum is a forum for KCD, KCD is a “hardcore” immersive and realistic game (according to the devs), so it’s only natural that the people on it would be hardcore gamers. If anything it’s you who doesn’t belong here because you’re a casual, someone the devs specifically said they wouldn’t be catering too.

How many lock-picks did you broke in real-life to open a chest?

Thin metal objects were very difficult to make in those times, so they’d break easier, and in fact I find lock-picking in real life to be much harder even though I broke more irl than in the game by far.

Its not hardcore immersive at all

Well, that only means it should be made harder, not easier.

Locks that are above your skill level are quite hard I find (like doing the lvl 15+ locks while you’re skill lvl 10 or less).

First time post but have been sitting on the side for a month or so. I’m on PS4

I’m only 10 hrs into the game and still working my way through the lock picking. Ive found the easiest way to pick locks is not to go slowly. You just panic, your fingers get in a muddle as the thumbsticks often go in different directions.
Just find the sweet spot and go for it. A nice, steady but ‘not sluggish’ approach. Most should take less than 5 seconds.
This is very easy and easy locks but a strange reason I can also open a few hard locks but not all. (it comes up with the too difficult message). Strange that its not consistent over all the hard locks though,

You just have to level up 2-3 levels in lockpicking, after that the sweetspot has a lot wider “Circle”. I admit at level 0 every single lock is a pain, but just take that obstacle and you will see.
I don´t see how they could implement a difficulty setting, given the game mechanics but i wouldn´t mind and I don´t understand how it is a problem for people like me, who think that the game is far too easy. After all we would probably get a harder setting.

I broke about 40 lock picks and read a few a book. Finally managed to open an easy lock yesterday then a second two in a row… I was like Sam Rockwell getting his Oscar…

I’m level 4 lock picks… I deserve to only be opening two by now why… Because I went off being a bounty hunter opening peoples guts and throats , this was my design… So I struggled with lock picks, he only reason I opened two is because I made so much money from being a killer I could afford to break 40 lock picks no problem.

Ha introduce a difficulty mode end of. Like the good suggestion up top call it soy boy, or dick chugger mode. Fuck this making the default game even easier.

I play on Xbox and as I’m using an Xbox controller I’d have to disagree with u. No changes. It’s challenging for a reason. So you have to work on it. I also had to try very easy chest once in awhile and save enough money to buy skill so eventually now I’m on very hard barely. And those are a challenge but guess what. There still doable. This isn’t Skyrim. This is better. This isn’t a instant gratification game. Asside from a few bugs not much else needs changed. And if they add a save on exit than I say keep the long load time cuz people are just gonna take advantage of that and save save save instead of using a bed or using schnapps.

Yeah I’m kinda sad they are just giving in, I’ve tried to tell people it gets easy. Level up you’re skill. That’s it, level up then it’s easy, it’s as simple as that.

PS4 player here.

When I started the game? - I felt it’s broken, or they did not test it on controller.
Later - figured out my char’s lockpicking stat was low and I had a bad technique.
With 10 point in lockpicking I open a very hard chest with little to no difficulty.

A good technique: trick is that you need to try to keep to move the two controllers at the same pace once the sweet spot is found. It must be kept on the same distance relative to the lockpick.
When I touch a chest / door at the first time, I look for the sweet spot. The closer it is to the center the easier it is for me to keep the distance between the two lockpicks.

Sum : once you figure out a technique and level up your skill on easy chests and trainings its as easy as in other games.

I was able to do some very hard locks at lvl 8 and with the lasting lock pick perk they became fairly easy. The lock pick just dosent break unless found it outside the sweet spot for a long time. It’s hard though to understand how ppl are having troubles with it as outside of the forums everyone in the gaming communities I am apart if are not having issues with the lockpicking. Obviously ppl are though giving how much complaining there is just hard to see it due to personal experiance with the system. I am by no means “skilled” he’ll strike lock picking gave me trouble when infiratbplayed it thus however isn’t

Please refrain from the namecalling and abusive comments, if you can’t discuss the topic in a chivalrous and civilised manner move onto another topic

For my own experience on PC this made a huge difference in cracking the lock picking technique: https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/32 I use a DS4 controller on PC.

This is what I found to work best on PC too. Slow and steady is not the best option.

You do realise that the lockpicking in game isn’t even slightly realistic? Lockpicking is pretty much 100% a tactile process, so, much like sex, it will never be something that computer games can represent well. Until we have true haptic feedback in the mainstream that is.

Hi all,
I think most of you guys are misunderstanding the whole “make lock picking easier” topic. In my opinion the main problem is that there are two different difficulties regarding lockpicking

  • The ones playing with keyboard/mouse
  • The ones playing with a pad.

I think it’s definitely more challenging to use a pad than to use keyboard/mouse. You can’t compare them. The fact that on a keyboard you just have to press/hold a button to turn the lock instead of circling with a separate stick.
It wouldn’t be a problem if both styles would be on a same level of difficulty. And that’s just not the case - at least in my opinion

maybe Warhorse took that into consideration and you will only need to hold the stick in order to move the lock… would actually be a good solution imo… I play with Mouse/Keyboard anyways

Hi, yea. In this case it would be fair.
I just wanted to make a point that in the whole “mimimimi lock picking mimimmi” discussion no one is talking about this  It just “too hard” or “to easy”… Which is an “too easy answer” in this regards

It has nothing to do with it being a button instead of a stick, it’s because the control is a mouse instead of a stick, that’s just more accurate.
And I think it’s balanced either way, because other things get easier on controllers (like combat and pick-pocketing).
I like switching between mouse/keyboard and controllers and have not found any particular difficulty in any part of the game.
A lot of people around here who play with controllers still find it very doable regardless of the difference as well.

Hmm, I can’t say anything regarding lock picking with keyboard/mouse. I’m playing with a pad (ps4) and as I see it, it’s way more challenging doing this with a pad instead of two sticks - which needs to be turned in different speed and different angle.
But, perhaps I’m wrong with that- who could say
At the end of the day it’s just a matter of personal skill. Which iss good and which the reason why I like it the way it is. Which doesn’t mean that I actually can do locking with a pad
But never the less: Bedder this way than the skyrim “we did it in 1000 different flavors” kind of lock picking

Ok, you made your point, you’re a badass, atleast in-game.

The fact that they included this in the changelog means that they realize that something is not like they intended. They could have just kept it like it was.

I also think it’s not really great on console, so I just skipped it and went full good-guy.
I would pick it up again if it gets tweaked a little.

I often practiced it, but at the time had not much money + the loading is too slow on a regular ps4 to keep going back.

I didnt like it at first on console but as I bought skill and practiced it got easier and my technique got better. Nothing to do with being a bad ass and everything to do with dilagence. Nothing needs tweeked or changed except a few minor bugs.
