Anyone else alittle paranoid of knife attacks?

but everything you listed there can be used for multiple things a gun is for killing that is it , what you kill with it is down to the human of course ,
name me one other thing other than killing a gun is useful for . id love to know and dont come out with the "to scare off criminals " because that normally isnt going to work in a society where everyone has guns as they will most likely have a gun also so that ends in killing

so guns can be used as a tool and as a toy how great. a tool for killing and a deadly toy in one I canā€™t tell what is better. In some shooters shotguns can be used to permanently open doors, yet an other practical use of guns. Also zombis are already dead so shooting them wouldnā€™t qualify as killing peopleā€¦

In all seriousness the gun laws in the Czech Republik may be working i am not disputing that but I belive carring weapons with you in day to day live increses the chance of a conflict to escalate because it increases the threat of the armed party. We have to assume random people donā€™t intend to hurt each other for no particular reason otherwise there is no reason for people to live around other people. If you want to rob sombody why bother with a murder charge? But If the intended victim turns out to be armed that threatens the robber. When both parties feel backed into a corner there likely to take stupid actions.

I apolgize if all this has been said in the hundreds of posts above, i didnā€™t read most of them.

I use my guns for competitive shooting. I punch holes through paper targets from close range to long range and I enjoy the technology behind the different systems. I never raised my gun against another individual, I donā€™t carry a gun in public and I donā€™t plan any murders.

Why is it difficult to understand that a gun is not just for killing? I enjoy shooting in a match and compare results with my buddies.

A gun can also be used for different purposes. It all includes shooting, of course. A car is not used for playing tennis or flying.

Without referring to any statistics, from what Iā€™ve heard most women carry mainly to avoid rape and most men carry mainly to avoid random violence. For some reason, most people here steer the issue to protection of property, where it is not for most gun owners (anyway, in most countries use of potentially lethal force to protect property is illegal).

yes and thats perfectly fine , thats perfectly legal in the UK to do as well which im all for , what im against is people carrying guns in there day to day life for "protection " when its totally uncalled for .

im also against people being allowed to own automatic weapons or handguns , if you wish to use them for sporting then by all means have them available to rent for the day.

Iā€™m from England (United Kingdom), and I think personal sidearms are fine, just as long as you donā€™t wave them about, and are properly drilled on their use and maintenance, before youā€™re allowed to be considered for one, and the checks for violent history etc etc And if you show a sign that you might use it for malice or bad intentions, deny you instantly.

in that case itā€™s clearly a toy, nothing wrong with that. But it clearly should be keep away from children. Leatal things donā€™t make good toys for children. Youā€™d think it would be unnessesary to add that.

Iā€™ve been beat up once at night at a train station. Runing away would have easily solved the problem, as it worked for some one else involved. But unfurtionatly I wasnā€™t approperatly afraid even though I was outnumbered. Had there been a knife (to get back to the original topic) I probably would have known that running is the best couse of action, it is most of the time.

Greedy predators in massive herds in little cramped spacesā€¦ youā€™re gonna have a bad time.

That is a common sense.

Tell to old people that they should have run instead of getting beaten during robbery. Or to women, who in most cases canā€™t outrun a guy. Or try running away when you are with your GF or a kid. Iā€™d say that in a large towns in the Czech Republic the most typical group of people that carry concealed gun are rather old men on walk (often with their small dogs) after 11 PM.

People actually hunt with ar15s and they are very fun to shoot.

Who are you to decide that carrying a weapon for protection is uncalled for. You never know what could happen you could live in the safest country in the world and still have defend yourself.

Every year in America 2.5 million people use guns for self defense or to stop a violent crime. 95% of these are non lethal with no one being shot or killed not even the criminal.

If a child is shooting under the close supervision of a adult who is familiar with fire arms whats the issue? I was first allowed to shoot when i was 5 but under very close super vision with my father standing behind me holding the gun as well. When ever children gets a hold of their parents guns its when the parents are irresponsible and dont have them in a gun safe or hidden.

Flagged because i was offended by your pill comment? this is very lame.

I want my pear juice!

goats are like mushrooms, if you kill a duck, im scared of microwaves.

Yeah i think its safe to say he didnā€™t take them.

Please refrain from opening your mouth good sir.

So because some young asshat in the U.K shoots someone with a pellet gun then everyone is not to be trusted with a gun? Thats like saying because people drink and drive then everyone should not be trusted with a car or alcohol. Do you not see how flawed your logic is?

what did i just say?

Guns are never toys. Even toy guns are treated as real guns by myself.

Some guys already made waterpistols into shotguns and even airsoft guns can not be distinguished from real guns just by looking at them. Weapons are dangerous period

I would never hand over a gun to anyone not able to control their behaviour. Be it a child, a drunk or a mentally disabled. I am responsbile for the safety of the surroundings and individuals and children do not act responsibly (yet). You all know drunken people and face the reality, you can not anticipate the thoughts of someone mentally disabled, there might be some that very well can handle a gun, some might not, some can not communicate their thoughts or fears properly and I would be handing them a weapon possibly against their will.

While movies and games ridicule the lethality of firearms, (television) media are causing panic in the public with every minor incident (as well as ebola which causes less deaths than a common flu)

Carrying a gun for protection is a huge responsibility many individuals are unable to cope with. I would not give a gun to someone not being able to follow the law or lack common sense. Someone not being able to drive a car within speed limits is not the best candidate to follow even stricter laws.

I kinda grew up shooting and have always been told how to handle a gun and how to not handle one. I dont think kids should be banned from shooting but be kept under close supervision when they do.

It is in the parents responsibility to judge the level of responsibility. Not every child is childish, not every adult is mature. If parents take a 9y/o to a shooting range, hand over a fully automatic firearm and think it was a good idea did not really get what responsibility means. You donā€™t start with an Uzi, you start with airguns or rimfires.

But yeah, the sooner they learn to be responsible and know the dangers of firearms, the easier it is living in a home where guns are stored.
