Anyone else alittle paranoid of knife attacks?

I completely agree they guy with the uzi was a complete retard and it was his own fault for getting killed at the very least he should have been partially holding the gun with her to control the recoil. Ive never shot a fully automatic i didn’t shoot an ar15 till i was 15 i started shooting with 22s and shotguns not a 12 gauge of course.

i certainly wouldn’t let you near a gun , your attitude is fucked an dangerous , no child should EVER be allowed to handle a gun , not even with an adult standing behind. above 13 years old , with supervision is fine anything below 13 shouldnt be near a loaded weapon

its not about maturity is about the strength to control the weapon YOU are in charge of an adult standing behind isnt in control of the weapon the child is

restrict it to semi auto and fine

link me to the source claiming 2.5 million crimes are stopped by firearms

Not every adult has the strength to hold a gun. I took some girls shooting and they could barely hold the weapon. But you can still have them shoot in a prone supported position where the weight of the rifle is not an issue.

I try to judge the amount of recoil someone can handle. I would not want someone ending up with a slide stuck in the eye socket.

Children, as I said, should only be trained on low energy, low recoil weapons. Airguns can be fun and challenging. The child has to understand that you don’t shoot at animals or persons otherwise it is not ready to weild a gun (under supervision of course). Hunting is a next (big) step. It is not just shooting, it is a lesson in life and death. Not easy to explain death to a child. But eventually it will be a topic, be it a pet, hunted animal or family member.

This age to realize the world in full consequence varies. Some never reach this level of understanding.

I would rather restrict the use of toy guns, because they “teach” that there are no consequences to firing a gun. I also think that cartoons ridicule violence, but this is another story. Action and consequence should always be imminent and apparent. Watching a toon shoot another with a shotgun plugged by his opponents fingers does not really help judge the lethality of guns, right?

But we should not forget that there are women who need self-protection, be it a pepper spray (which more often than not end up in their own eyes), knives or pocket guns. Would you take their (only) protection away, because they better run faster or “man” up and take a beating (or worse)?

It is not always black/white to generalize and say “weapons are bad no matter what”. Weapons are no solution and no answer, they are tools. Used in the right hands can solve many situations without using them, used in wrong hands they can be devastating and brutal.

Marial arts can only help in certain situations, less-lethal tools like taser or pepper spray do not work 100%. Just as with guns they can also be used against the defending individual. So there is no “fail safe” method of feeling safe in a bad neighbourhood.

You clearly never served in the military with your fear of weapons and this idea that they are mass killing weapons and all they can be used for is killing. You also have an anti American attitude even though if you actually were in the military you would have served with American troops but instead you are a typical british person and think you are better than Americans. You also condem our actions in Iraq and Afghanistan when you claimed to have served there. you and a load of other European countries were right there with us.

If they are under very close supervision and taught how to use them properly. I have been shooting guns since i was five years old and have never had an incident. Maybe if i was a tard british kid i would go shoot someone in the head with a pellet rifle but im not.

Somone under 13 could easily control a 22 but i doubt you’ve even fire a weapon in real life so wouldn’t know that.

So my attitude of self preservation is dangerous lol okay. Ive been shooting far longer than you have and am not an idiot i know how to treat a fire arm with safety and respect.

The results varied but even the lowest estimated% of crimes stopped with guns far out weighs the amount of people killed by guns each year.

you have a very shallow view of who a solider is . i served in the parachute regiment assigned to 16th air assault brigade for 8 years and i was part of the first body of troops to enter helmend province , i then served my last 4 years as a path finder still with 16th air assault. meaning i spent most of my time driving around the desert attracting bullets . i missed most of iraq when i joined at 16 i was to young to deploy and by the time i was old enough it was over and i served a small tour in iraq where i didnt fire my rifle once , i am entitled to have a view as much as anyone else on the war in both iraq and afghan and i dont agree with them , i did what i was told to do , we made a positive impression on the country in one sense but the people are not interested they just want to be left alone to plough their farms they couldnt give two shits who is in charge as long as they leave them alone , i did serve along side some american troops yes … i preferred my own boys .

i have no fear of weapons and i take great pride in my skill of using the weapons but i was trained to respect the weapon . you shot paper i shot at people thats the difference .
i loved every moment of my time in the army , and i loved the guns but im not an idiot and certainly wouldnt want to live in a world where you fear of being shot 24/7 .

try a factual website rather than a biased one, like government reports

i agree it varies person to person but allowing a 5 year old to wield a loaded weapon is stupid .
i also agree a gun is fine in the hands of someone who respects it and knows how to use it but , by allowing anyone to own a gun you are allowing people who dont respect the weapon and dont know how to use one walk around with it to feel big and powerful and they end of killing someone ,

we also cannot predict when a person is going to snap and if they do and have weapons they do stupid things like shoot up schools , and we have seen too many of them

best course of action most of the time was a stupid way to say it. what does it even mean it’s not like you can count all possible situations? My point is you don’t nesseserily have to outrun someone just get to a more public area. Also if we are talking about random violence without anything to gain persuing someone screaming for help seems like a lot of trouble. A moment of hesitation from the persuer could be enouth to disapear.

if your shooting for fun and not selfdefence porposes that kind of makes it a game and the gun a toy. But on the other hand people should be fully aware of the danger, so it’s also really not a toy.

In theory close supervision might work but if everyone in an enviorment is obsesst with guns and children start shooting at the age of 5 there probably hadled too casually.

But really I don’t know the first thing about guns in real live and I like it that, so I’ll probably get out of this thread.

I looked up the 16th air assault and their website had everything you just told me:) You are a fake. You also brag about being able to kill people which gives you away completely real vets don’t brag about that. Supervision does work.If you really were in the military good for you im still not sure what this has to do with this arguement. The people who have been shooting since five are the responsible gun owners and the people who just start shooting when they’re adults are more prone to fuck up and do something stupid. The recoil on a 22 is pretty much no different from the recoil on a pellet rifle. I was not allowed to shoot without a parent holding the gun with me until about 10. I never had any incidents and i have understood from a young age that guns are dangerous. Cars are much more dangerous than a gun is. You are way more likely to have a child killed in a car wreck than with a gun. So you think people under 18 shouldn’t handle weapons but they should handle a car? People in my family aren’t obsessed with guns we just use them as tools. My uncles and mother often had to eat wild game as children because they were poor hunting kept food on the table guns are treated as tools. You teach the person to be respectful of the gun and to be careful with it same as you would with a car.

Would you please keep the discussion in a civil manner? Thank you!

Thats the second time you pretty much told us you’ve killed people

yes, and it doesn’t help your case, it just makes it seem like you have an unhealthy fixation of the issue of killing, and it probably has affected your ability to be objective. seek a mental health professional, please.

never said i killed anyone , i was trained to kill thats a fact . simple. i was invloved in countless contacts where i shot at an enemy .
i also know many soldiers and ex-soldiers who love to brag about the amount of rag heads they have binned , its not something i ever do but im not going to hide from basic facts .
US troops are actually the worst for it
