Big battles are great but happen only once

Ahoj!

I’ve been enjoying KCD since launch, started over several times and have ~200 hours at the moment. Excited about DLCs, especially ‘From the ashes’.

However ‘From the ashes’ brings an issue for me as my favourite thing to do in this game is fighting of course. The most convenient way to do it looks to be the following once you get high tier weapons and armor:
Clear bandits / cumans / interlopers camps -> Clear bandits / cumans in Pribyslavitz -> Wait for ~7 days -> Everybody is respawned allowing us to fight more and then repeat again.

In ‘From the ashes’ scenario Pribyslavitz is being rebuilt, so obviously no more joy of fighting lots of bandits at once of repeatable nature.

Is it possible to have another big bandit camp please?
May be open Vranik gates and populate with people just like Pribyslavitz. Main story quest would stay the same, but without quest active it would be possible to go inside the fortification and have fair battle of 1 vs 50.

Bigger scale dev task would be to have an ability to somehow repeat events of battle of Vranik, siege and battles of Talmberg and others happening during main quest line. They are great and well done, it feels so unfortunate that you can have them only once.

Sir Tobi on E3 2018 said that devs try to track what community wants, so don’t hit me hard for suggestions please.

Regards,
Mikhail

There were lots of big battles in the main storyline especially at the end?

It would be nice to have skirmish battles like at the e3 demonstrations. I like your idea of repopulating vranik.

Edit: Have main menu option of battles and anothet of duels.

Did you finish the main story?

Doesn’t make sense tho.

He wants more battles than storyline.

Well er, might wanna play another game cos KCD is mostly about the storyline so…

so after the story line you should just quit? adding more things to do outside story line will add even more play time.

Very wrong.

It’s not sandbox.

You and I have different definitions of big
creek fight? No
bridge fight? No
defend trebuchet? No
Retake Talmberg? Inner bailey fight was nuts but the battle itself wasn’t big

This is a big battle

Really hope Vranik gets recycled in band of bastards

Epilogue was intentionally set up to be free play.

So KCD isn’t an open world RPG? I have over 2500 killed enemies that say otherwise. Less than 10% were explicitly connected to the storyline. A similar breakdown would apply to total hours played (~625)

Just because its open world doesn’t mean it’s meant to be like Far Cry 4.

Just because KCD has a storyline doesn’t mean there’s nothing else to the game. The design intent is crystal clear… WH made KCD battle points that respawn from the beginning of the game through the Epilogue

Oh there’s plenty to the game but the main focus is the storyline, like WH say.

Well imho you take it too strictly. Its also open world RPG and a lot of players call for more open world features.

The game uses the storyline as a framework but anyone that has a playthrough with over 200h isn’t focusing on the storyline. The MQ is less than 100h… like Tobi said

It’s not Just Cause 3 mate. How does it make sense to have repeated big army battles with no context? Sorry but you’ll never convince me of this. Just go back and view the videos where Vavra says the game is storyline based.

A big army battle is thousands per side. I don’t think KCD’s implementation of CryEngine could handle that.

Repeated battles already occur even during the Epilogue without context. Potentially creating (resurrecting during Epilogue aka WH’s explicit free play mode in KCD) Vranik as a base of operations from whence all the battle point NPCs derive would actually provide more context for those battle points.

The storyline is the foundation of an open world RPG. For those that put large numbers of hours into the play, they’re moving past the foundation. And that investment can (far) outweigh the foundation as it does with everyone who has spent more than 200h on a single playthrough.
