Bows and stealth

Throwing rocks unrealistic? How would they see the rock being thrown if they’re looking away  and plus u make stabbing someone with a dagger through the brain stem or eye socket sound easy XD its not thats why i would want hatchet. But always carry a dagger.

It takes a long time to choke someone out

Throwing rocks is the worst idea for stealth. If you see a rock coming flying out of no where it wouldn’t be hard to pin point the stealth especially if there was more than one. The guards tend to chase after the rocks instead of finding the source of where the hell it came from.

Also how did that rock get in side the castle? Did it fly there? Much better to not make any noises at all. The rock through is a clumsy gimmick that they throw in stealth games because they’re too lazy to have a better level design.

I would try (and probably fail) with a mace or a one handed hammer as long as my opponent does not wear a helmet. Blunt trauma on the cranium temple ftw!

…but yeah, no rock throwing.

I use rocks at FTX’s in the army. it works for me pretty well. Also in paintball, airsofting ect. But if you’re in a castle, then no you don’t want to make any noise. All depends on situation, you could use an apple or something, plus you could grab a few pebbles from outside and have them in inventory. If it was in the middle of the night in a castle some noise may be a little suspicious, making them move away from a door per say and you sneak through it. But in mid day there is a lot of commotion, so they would probably dismiss it. You would have to find a different way to get him away from a door or the path that he is blocking.

Also no alarm would be raised if they hear a noise, unless they already suspect you’re going to infiltrate the castle then they would be on high guard. Even if they did find something you threw, I think it would take a little time for them to realize there is a thief. Just think about it. How often does the castle get a thief in it?

Eh whatever. Nobody will listen to experience.

Yeah those dumb people who don’t listen to other people over the internet who’s claims could be totally false.

Another veteran on this forum well that’s interesting. I find that people like to bring up their service in an argument even though it has no relevance what so ever. So ill say to you what i say to everyone else who claims this. Over the internet people can claim to be any thing i could claim to be a belly dancer but that doesn’t make it true.

Maybe you just shouldn’t shoot down most peoples suggestions and ideas?

Why so negative? Also just back off with the service thing, its just a true statement. I guess I should stop using my experience as an example? You’re right, I could be anyone. Just another dumb person…

We are discussing stealth options if you can’t handle people not agreeing with you then why are you on this forum?

Because i have had at least 10 people tell me they’re in the military on this forum in the middle of the argument for no reason. Its the internet i can claim i’m a belly dance but that doesn’t make it true.

I just read the chapter on the siege of Antioch and what I read was that the special infiltrating force consisted of the small number of 700 men who scaled the wall at 2-3 am. in full [mail]armor.

Not really the lone thief with a dagger.

Why are you using your army experience in throwing rocks? What army do you serve in?

Personally, I don’t like at all the so-called ''quick time events".
If something happens, it shouldn’t be scripted with “press X to kill the guard silently” if you know what I mean

He probably played far cry 3. Your brother in the army starts throwing rocks and the intelligent AI follows them. Then he says that’s what you learn in the army.

Perhaps we will be able to take a small group of men inside of a castle. The kick starter page says that you will tactical options during a siege like poisoning the well or sneaking in the castle.

Maybe they look in that direction for a couple of seconds and you sneak by them? Idk I always forget everyone thinks of being stealthy in a castle. Enough with rocks though lol

in reality, the options available in a scenario requiring stealth are much more limited than typical games that tend to introduce a lot of variety and gameplay for content. there are ways to create more inventive and original ways for stealth. one of the videos even showed amusing test of ai, by putting object on the ground which attracted a guard’s attention and induced him to investigate.

in general, you want to avoid as much direct attention to yourself. i always thought whistling was a really good way to get your cover blown. the guards will know it’s a human doing it

1: Hear whistle
2: Get shot at and shoot back
3: Resume patrol after 2 minutes of not finding the shooter like it’s an ordinary evening while three of my buddy guards lie dead on the floor

Ah such is the life of a splinter cell guard.

And an Assassin creed guard.

With alpha 0.3 we have the lookpicking minigame.

Now we are able to unlock chests and doors, but can we also lock doors and everything else???

It would be a nice option for stealth play.
At the moment, you can only close the chest (door).

Could we do this with the same minigame? Or do we need another (minigame)?

Not sure why you would re-lock a chest after looting it.
