Buying a PC: Need advice!

So I have been considering buying a gaming PC for years now, and this is the game that’s convinced me to finally do it. Unfortunately I know next to nothing about what I need.

I don’t have time to build my own, I’d just like to buy one straight out. I’ve found this one online and I think it looks good but I would really appreciate input from anyone who knows what they’re talking about!

This is the link: https://www.freshtechsolutions.co.uk/intel-core-i5-8400-1tb-8gb-3000mhz-gtx-1070-8gb-vantage-computer-gaming-pc.html

Any advice would be very helpful

No operating system, and only 8GB of ram.

Would be decent buy if it had more ram and an OS – I wouldn’t say it’s worth it. You may be better off just going to a PC building company and have your PC custom build and have them send it to you.

Custom built PCs Are expensive vor their Specs… Just Order 8gb of exactly the Same RAM on Amazon. You can Clip it in easily If there are Slots (which should be - Look at the Mainboard information).
Maybe you got an OS at Home?

Yeah I looked at custom PCs and they’re a lot.

Got an OS at home already I’m gunna use, and RAM should be fine but I will double check.

Other than that does it look decent? CPU and GPU and all that haha

With those specs and price probably just get an Xbox one x.

@Macedonian Not what He asked for…

Not really helpful advice, I’ve already got a PS4.

Surely this is better than that?

AHAHAHAHAH!!!

Seriously, though @DLowman94 if you have an OS key available and you get 8 GB of RAM and an SSD it is a fair PC. The 1070 will serve you well for years to come (I have a 980TI and manage to run this game at 1080p Ultra at 60 fps) and you have a very good CPU. It is a good machine. I would say build your own (not that much time consuming) but for that price I don’t know if you can manage better.

Actually, just checked PC Part Picker and you cannot build it yourself for that spec for that price. There is a huge inflation on GPU prices atm due to criptocurrency mining.

Go for it. Just add SSD and RAM. I installed KCD on an SSD and I have no performance problems or texture pop in. It is uncanny.

Well there are minor Things Like the USB 3.1 Ports are only in the Back, the HDD is Not thaaat powerful…But Overall IT really is a nice PC! Even with only the 8gb RAM its really Not Bad.

@DLowman94
Like Dacrimal says. Nowadays with the GPU prices it is a bargain. Get it now before it runs out. And yes, you have quite a bit more power than an XBOX 1 X.

Please the 1070 will blow away the XboxO GPU. The clock speeds are almost double. GTX 1070 Core Clock 1506MHz, Whatever GPU Xbox is using Clock Speed: 853 MHz.

Also I have 8GB of DDR3 ram with a GTX1070 8GB and i’m running at 1440p very high settings with vsync off and custom shader preset at 60 FPS. So don’t worry about the 8GB of ram right now just make sure it has an upgrade slot.

Also I would recommend adding a SSD to your build. It is a huge difference. Did you play the Witcher 3 on consoles? The load times were absolutely ridiculous. With a SSD they were about 10 secs. It doesn’t have to be a big one, just like 120GB or something to run your OS and games on. Use the HDD for storage.

yes I’d say get that pc and build in ssd (I’d recommend 500gb or more)
later you should upgrade ram and you should be fine, 8GB is minimum for KCD

Please the 1070 will blow away the XboxO GPU

Hopefully! The 1070 alone is worth more than an Xbox One X … !

Yea I think I paid $470 for my MSI GTX1070 8GB

Those 8gb of ram won’t run every game at high res. Can’t run Forza at 4k but the Xbox can. Unless you have a 2k PC don’t bother. I have both so don’t bother saying I’m a fanboy.

Why are you so unfriendly when nobody here is saying any of that stuff about you? Go outside and find something to make you smile man.

First of all, the Xbox one s doesn’t run anything in native 4k or even 2k…

Can you play games in 4k on the Xbox One S?
Unfortunately, to take advantage of HDR on the Xbox One S, you’ll need a TV that supports HDR. … But again, keep in mind the Xbox One S doesn’t play games in 4K. Instead, it’ll upscale 1080p games to 4K, which often looks better than 1080p, but not quite as good as native 4K.

That article says forza can’t be run at native 4k at 60fps on ULTRA settings. I almost guarantee the gtx 1070 will run native 4k (3840 x 2160) with high/very high settings at 30fps which is damn impressive. And you believe the Xbox one s can do this?? Lol

Also I have a dated board, processor and memory, and can run pretty much every game at native 2k 1440p with a mix of high/very high settings at 60fps. I have played plenty of games at true native 4k at 30fps but the improvement isn’t worth the extra 30fps.

The performance/cost on the gtx 1070 is hard to beat.

I generally agree with you but he is talking about the Xbox X not S. And he chose a poorly optimized port as an example. And the XBOX 1X does not run the game at 4k Ultra though it does run it at 4k though you need a 4k tv and hdr to take full advantage of it.

And it does do checkerboard rendering on most titles which still looks good but it is not 4k.

The main point is that the XBOX 1X basically has a rx 580 inside (well a bit more powerfull with 40 cu vs the 580’s 36) which is a super card but it is not a 4k 60 fps true card. In fact look at kcd the XBOX 1 X does 1440p medium settings. A 1070 pushes theat with ease and you can even go high and very high. Or you xan play at 1080p and go ultra if you prefer that type of quality in lieu of pixels.

Again, the XBOX 1X has 40 CU. There are no miracles. Its computing potential is impressive and on par with a GTX 970 or a Radeon 480/580. The 970 can now be found for less than a 1050ti and it will blow it away and is still the perfect card for 1080p imho. But something like a 1070 will blow it out of the water in raw performance.

This the diy will tell you you are crazy to buy one already built. If you have expendable cash, imo, its better just to pay someone, been there done that.To be honest narrow down your pc places you intend to buy from and call them and talk to them. Yes you can build it yourself, yes it would turn out cheaper, yes,but if you run into issues you are on your own. If you have the money and dont mind spending a bit extra for a warranty, piece of mind, available future upgrades, and a guarantee things will work no hitches. Then a custom pc built for you is the way to go. Basically build a pc that has room to grow ,with a company that will stand behind it. I use experts and people in the buisness of things I do in terms of hobbys when the time arises. Its more money yes, but I never have any issues. And things just plain work.

Oh… Even still you already explained it… The x might run native 4k at 30fps at medium settings… The 1070 still blows it out of the water. Is the x even out yet? The gtx 1070 has been out for what? 2 years almost?
