Calling all PS4 Players - What's the Experience Like?

Another spoilerman, please be helpful, what s this story about saves? I only use save and exit or auto
saves…

To sum it up for you, what you get is appearently a roll of a dice at this stage. Some have it nice and smooth with minimal bugs and for others it’s downright broken and unplayable. You’ll often see these two types of people clashing on the forums. I was lucky and got a good copy, graphics are great and i can finish the quests without running into problems but even if you’re lucky enough to be able to actually look at the game for what it is, it’s still unfinished on a fundemental level. Features and aspects that should have been in the game are missing and even the story is incomplete because of the forced early release date.

Overall though, You can expect to get 100 hours of good fun from this game for sure but after that, you’re likely to kiss the game goodbye and put it on your shelf until more content is released. Replayability is limited to using different means to achieve the same ends with limited impact on anything. There are a few quests that do matter how you finish them but being few in number and limited in importance you may not be too eager to start a new game for them. Also you can experience all playstyles in a single playthrough.

Its a roll of the dice alright but I think it has to do more with the people playing the game than the game itself. Well over half of the people on hear crying about bugs are just unable to figure the game out for themselves and therefore cry “bug!” because it dosen’t hold there hand enough.

a detailed account of my experience. updated as time permits (link)

Wow - so the blue screens are because people aren’t hardcore enough. I don’t get how people fail to understand that the bugs that affect 100% of games tend to be ironed out at testing and what you get left with are the intermittent bugs and those revealed by certain combinations. If your game is going well then be thankful - but quit telling other that they are imagining the problems they are reporting.

I really love this game, but on PS4 regular, it has been quite buggy the further into the game I progress. I got over 150 hours into it, but the game broke after completing a certain stage late in the main quest line, thus making it impossible to continue the quest line until it gets fixed. Most side quests are ok (in terms of bugs) but I’ve encountered about half a dozen that break my game, and make it impossible to continue the game if you complete said quests. As I said, I really love this game, and it is one of the first RPG’s that really “Feels” right, but the amount of bugs seriously dampens the effect. I’m personally going to just wait to finish it until later this year (when in my opinion the game SHOULD have been released, I think they released it far to early). I do hope that other developers or even Warhorse makes more games styled after KC:D. The idea is fantastic, and more historically based/historically accurate games would be amazing!

Intermittent/ conditional intermittent bugs are a real pain and not in just games.
Electronics, aviation and any complex real life systems and hard to track down.

The game for me has been an almost. Many irritations in the gameplay, story and design decisions. The lack of a proper save facility on the ps-4 magnifies the other problems when you end up losing lots of progress. While I can applaud what was being aimed for, I am left feeling that Warhorse never asked themselves “is it fun to play?”. It’s an ok game, but wouldn’t be in my top ten.

It seems this game was originally designed for high end PC’s and CPU intensive.
My cpu isn’t top of the line or near it and I get not so great performance.
Consoles are not so great in the CPU department and prolly had to have the game nerfed to work.
there were consequences.
Add to that are claims that Mikey Soft made some other stuff nerfed to make their boxes seen fantastic.

If this game isin’t “fun to play” for you then don’t play it. Your exactly the type of person I was referring to who doesn’t like certain aspects of a game and therefore cry’s Bug! Not all games are made for you and your idea of what a game should be. I’m sure there are plenty of games that reflect your ideals. Please go and play one of those and let the fans of KCD have this one game that dose something different.

Not trying to spoil anything, I am trying to be helpful.
Delete all the old saves and autosaves except for a few starting points.
free up all the clutter

You are 100% correct there. Game won’t hold your hand but it is still unplayable for me on ps4 vanilla even with latest patch. I am replaying ME andromeda and not a problem in sight after 65 hrs gameplay. Some of us were just extremely unlucky with bad kcd copy.

@Stuffed40 Here’s the thing. It cannot be a fundamental problem with KCD version for vanilla PS4. If it were, all users would have the problem. They don’t. (fwiw, i completed the game on vanilla PS4)

Either game data gets created that corrupts the game or there’s a user specific console problem

Personally I’ve loved the game, and it would definitely be on my top 10 if the serious game breaking bugs were fixed for my copy. I really hope other game devs take this style of game and make more like it in the future.

Playing on ps4 pro here. I’ve come across a couple bugs, the bird trap quest being one, a few minor texture related ones.

The game itself is fun, and I enjoy it enough not to be super bothered by the bugs I’ve encountered.

It sounds like some people here are more concerned with examining shrubs instead of playing the game, but whatever floats their boat. Graphics look good to me, wandering around at sunrise in forests looks good to me, not so good when crouching to pick plants…but again, I’m not bothered by that, I’m not playing to examine grass.

The original post was asking for people’s opinions of their experience of the game on ps-4 - which I gave. You can give your glowing report on how the game is bug-free and brilliant if you wish.
BTW after 15 years in the industry I do know what a bug is , I also know that not finding a bug does not mean there is not one there. Please play your game if it is working for you and be thankful, but feel free to kiss Warhorses ass one more time before you go.

played 200+ hours on the PS4 still havent finished it , only come across a couple of minor bugs but that was before the recent patch , THE best RPG I have ever had the pleasure of playing

Same here. Finished the mainstory twice.
Started up 4th PT for new patch.
Runs smooth. No halberds lying around.
Never had a bug that made the game unplayable.

Suggested Actions: Delete as many save files as possible and restart system. If repeats, delete game and re-install.

I’ve had this happen a number of times with 1.4.3
