Character hungry or thirsty?

I think the move to make your chareactor to have to eat and sleep drink is one of the things that drawn me into this game

What if the chareactor doesn’t only need to drink and eat but also to pee; I know one of the most useless features, but not that unrealistic

is there “anorexia”? in game
? if you dont find any food, etc
and how your body change after that
?

that can be designed into a necessary task. for example. you go to sleep. wake up animation shows you emerging out of bathroom. pooping/urination tackled in one go.

It wasn’t all perfect food then. There should be food poisoning too, from fish gone bad for example. Or dirty water
most people in that time drank wine or ale (also mead and milk). Grain in damp bags got molded. You would need a varied diet that matches the physical strain of combat (watch “Into the Wild” for a poor diet that eventually led the main character to die). Please take this into account and don’t make it like Skyrim and the like, where you can eat just about anything and regain health. Please keep it narrowed down to basic food, nothing fancy (so fish soup, fresh bread with a helping of cheese, red meat, vegetables and ale for example).

I most definitely want my character to have to eat, sleep and drink in game! It shouldn’t lead to a ton of micromanaging though. But some!

In this other post we talk about this, see

Aside from the obvious stamina restrictions (however they decide to do that), some additional things I’d like to see from sleep deprivation that are realistic, won’t break the game, and are slightly annoying (thus impressing need upon the player) are:

  1. After 24 hours, your speed decreases slightly (1-2% or so). This would affect both fighting and walking/running.
  2. After 36 hours your vision darkens slightly, perhaps even going a little blurry at the edges. Speed decreases some more (up to 5 - 10% now).
  3. After 48 hours some NPC’s stop conversing with you (this is to simulate what it’s like to be really tired and speaking nonsense). Instead of their normal script, perhaps they say something generic like, “I’m sorry sir. I don’t know what you mean.” or something along those lines. Reaction time slows (input for commands has a delay). Speed perhaps slows even more (maybe to a maximum penalty of 15% or so?).
  4. After 72 hours your camera does that little drunken tilt that some games have done to simulate drinking (Saints Row, Bioshock, AC IV: Black Flag, and more). Not too much, but enough to be annoying and simulate being off balance due to fatigue.
  5. After 96 hours your character begins to hallucinate. This may not be doable though, as it requires extra time and resources to put in the game. As I’ve said before, I won’t trade the expected release date for some “neat” features.

Again, these are just some examples of some things that might be doable to simulate what lack of sleep can do to a person. It’s been said that a person will die from total lack of sleep well before they would from total lack of food. And you can suffer the effects of sleep deprivation as soon as 24 - 48 hours with no sleep.

All in all, if it’s just a stamina hit, I’m okay with that. But to see anything like I’ve listed above would go well above my expectations, and make this gamer squeal like a little kid with delight
