I will not talk about the whole murder thing, where guards know that you killed someone no matter how perfect your crime was, but a Rattay guard recongizing an item (green pants) stolen from Talmer seems just way over the top to me.
Being able to identify stolen carrots on sight is even more realistic
The more expensive, unique or recognisable something is the higher the likelihood of it being identified, that’d be a good system, nobody would ever know that the pants you’re selling them was taken from the neighbour right before entering the shop, or even his sword. But if you come with a sword that has “Property of Lord Fwupdidah” engraved in it they won’t buy it off you (not because they can read what the engraving says, but because it’s engraved at all). I don’t think there’s even a single game that gets thievery and fencing right.
Honestly, a simple “region lock” on most stolen items could have worked wonders. Im obviously not talking about items that potentially have a family crest or something like that on them, but making “common” stuff only recognizable in the region it was stolen will be a good solution.
Nah, even that is ridiculous. Half of the people there are walking around with the same pants, if you have one too and want to sell it that shouldn’t be so weird.
do you have a vegetable garden in game = no
can you direct the guard to the vendor from whom you have purchased said carrots = no
logical guard deduction in 1403 you have stolen the carrots given you are unable to provide reasonable believable proof of how you came to have the said amounts of carrots.
That could also Happen with a Police officer in 2018 - only there you got more rights to proofe your innosence.
Would make sense had they confiscated non stolen goods sometimes as well. They always correctly identify items though.
"I just bought 10 carrots from the farmer yesterday, but today I realised I only needed 9."
What will the guard do? Walk all the way to the farm outside of town to go ask if someone bought carrots off him yesterday? It’s not as if you get proof of purchase with everything like you do now, people can’t even read. So even if you did have it the guards wouldn’t be able to read it.
but the point is, the farmer could vouch still that he sold x amount of carrots to you yesterday, and thus your and his story would match with each others, and that there would be no report of stolen carrots amounting to the same number you have in your possession.
on the other hand logic assumes that if you stole carrots in the middle of the night from someone asleep, when they wake at some point the theft will be reported, and you will still be in the position of not being able to prove where you got them with the added complication a report of a theft of an amount of carrots near equal to the ones in your possession were stolen, given you were arrested within the timeframe they went missing with an amount of carrots you cannot prove where and from whom you got them.
Nah, the problem is that i have 150 carrots, but 2 of them are stolen. Jedi guard/vendor instantly smell thievery on them.
The real question is: why are you carrying 150 carrots?
I like carrots.
I can See that, But why do you want to sell Them to a merchant?
lmfao… what is going on in this thread??
Anywho, I’ve brought this up before… why when stealing off of a bandit… (a dead one too) it’s considered stealing… he’s a bandit and I wouldn’t doubt it if he stole it himself! Not only that, I can’t stand how I can take something from the middle of no where and then try sell it… and someone recognizes it as stolen. I’d like it if lets say… you looked extremely poor, or bloody the shop owner would get suspicious of what you’re selling to him. Say, the item is far too expensive for a peasant to have. -shrug-
Well it’s obvious. He got far too many and doesn’t want them to spoil.
Have you seen how gloomy the interior lighting is? How can you see in there without extra carrots!
You should really Invest in HighQualityCarrots then, for they dont spoil as fast. May be a bit pricey at the Beginning But is worth every Groschen.
There is an issue that keeps popping up. and it is an issue, the sheer volume of threads asking about what this or that system is meant to be doing is testament to this . does anyone have a clue( and I mean actual written explanation from dev detailing the release version e systems are working as they’re supposed to work. and if so what way do they work int his release version.
NOT some person guessing or trying to rationalise it.
I mean are they working as intended? broken?? are they bugged?? fucked if I know.
Nobody can prove any of their carrots in those times, if a hundred people sell a carrot, and those 100 carrots are from 20 different sources and one of those carrots is stolen nobody will know which of those carrots it is and nobody will care either.
