I have progressed through the game a ways now and am able to sell stolen goods to the miller. The problem I am having is what if I want to use stolen items instead of selling them? Is there a mechanic to remove the “stolen tag” from items? I am guessing you might be able to sell the miller the stolen items and then buy them back but if Im willing to do that I might as well just go buy new items from the armorer or the weapon smith. Is there something that I have not found in game that allows this, or am I possibly missing something? Any feedback or info would be greatly appreciated
You can put your stolen goods into your deposit box, rest a while and then the tag is gone. Said by the player in another forum and it works.
or in your horse bag put it there and wait.
Awesome, I will give that a try and see if it works. I noticed that the tag isnt there when you look at the stuff while it is in your box but once it is taken out the tag is back. Maybe I just hadn’t rested long enough. If it doesn’t work I will report back here I guess. Thanks for the info guys
Let us know I seen some nice gear I don’t wanna pay for
it is working !! i play for around 30 hours and have done this with success more then one time
Depends how valuable the stolen good is.
More valuable … stays longer stolen…
That actually makes a lot of sense
I agree, it does make sense. This game is great. I keep having these “Wow that is cool” moments while playing. These guys have definitely made something worth paying attention to.
Completely stuck. Broken game. FIRST I just had to find a work around for this MASSIVELY stupid quest. During the quest Needle in a Haystack to find the bandit Pious for the main quest, there was little to no direction, wasted over 4 real hours running in circles at the church only to promptly get kicked out of the church. I was then prompted to gather my belongings and find another way to kill or arrest Pious. Since being beyond frustrated with the course this game has taken me on I went in, murdered the guy, took the dice for the quest and left to get my belongings, ONLY TO FIND THAT WHEN I RETRIEVE EVERYTHING, ALL OF MY ITEMS ARE NOW TAGGED AS STOLEN. ITEMS THAT TOOK HOURS AND THOUSANDS OF GROSHENS TO GET. With no other choice I then then promptly fast traveled to my stash in the Rattey Mill to rest and hope my items after some wait time will be not stolen. I’ve slept in-game well over 100 hours, several in game hours of waiting and sleeping and still my items are tagged as stolen. This might actually be the last straw for this game. Sitting here at 3:50am literally at my wits end debating weather not to get a refund when Gamestop opens in 6 hours. This game is beyond broken and should never have been released this early. This game is month from being properly ready for release if not years. FIX YOUR GAME.
With no due respect,
An Extremely Disappointed Customer
Well, technically, I did see it said you pretty much donated everything to the church when you became a monk, so… /s
Yeah as a gamer this questline is kinda whack. Give up all my gear for a 30 minute quest? Nah. That’s why I played it smart and just tossed all my stuff in my inn chest instead beforehand. I didn’t even know that was a thing that could happen, I just thought I had to stow all my crap before I went to the monastery. So I did, used the chest, got the cutscene to change into a robe, and that was it.
I would pay for an up-to-date “shorter stolen items time” or “no stolen items” mod though, seriously.
Already sold the game back. Another disappointment in the gaming industry.
Enjoy life, thanks for playing.
Well i just killed the wayfarer knight and stole all his shit but it seems that it is gonna take a really long time for those items to cool off, shit
If you still have it, the game has an awesome disguise feature. If you go into the monks sleeping area there’s some monk robes that if you steal, you can wait a few days and wear so that people think you’re a monk and you can walk around mostly freely. This works with cumans too but i haven’t figured out what to wear for bandits yet.
Where can I find the deposit box ? Is there only one ? How does it work ?
i cant find any real description about items surrounded by a yellow square. cant sell that items. anyone?
As I understand it, even when something is “stolen” it doesn’t really matter unless you’re trying to sell it to someone that either knows or is somehow close to the person you stole it from.
I’ve sold many of stolen goods directly to merchants (not thieves fences like the miller) in different towns. Especially poached goods. Like killing hares in the forest and cooking their meat and then selling it to a nearby inn.
I’ve proudly worn stolen gear through the streets and as long as my reputation with that town isn’t crap, i’m not searched.
An item being “stolen” only comes into play if the guards search you, you do something very suspect, the people you stole from see it, or the item is very notable in some way.
You can also sell tour stolen item to one of the millers, and then immediately buy it back as an un-stollen item. It’s an expensive route but instantaneous. I used it to "launder"my stealth “0” noise clothes I use, and a sword I didnt want confiscated by the guards.
Sell it to Miller and buy it right back… Not stolen anymore.
