Dialogue camera

I don’t understand the purpose of a dialogue camera. This game is all about immersion. Hell, we mention third-person, and someone is ready to murder. I just was wondering, what was the thought behind including a dialogue camera? Why can’t we just interact with the person without being pulled or pushed around and essentially lose control to enter a dialogue. There is nothing natural feeling about this.

Thanks for the feedback and Thanks for the update!

technical issues with player running too far from character, disengaging, other nps interacting interruption.

also, 1st person dialog view is boring. when viewng self, seeing how henry behaves and engages.

thanks. bye

Have you seen Dark Messiah? Really immersive.

I’m still for optional 3rd person camera but since we only play in 1st person view I would prefer to have it in dialogs as well.

At least for ordinary, simple dialogs.

And the technical issue - character could become immobile in dialogs as it is now. Actually, everything could be the same.

Well some people would like to see their characters sometime. Also it is better to show emotions etc.

I do understand that - we had pretty long discussion about optional 3rd person view already and I dare to say I was the most vocal supporter.

But if the game will be all 1st person then I would welcome the option to stay in 1st person as the change disturb the immersion.
You see - I love investigations, but when your camera keeps changing as you have to talk to few people… it makes harder to focus on the quest (at least for me).

So its nice that you see the character and emotion but few details and visual emotion in every quest or even in every chat and at merchat… etc is not worth the trade off IMHO.

Find it quite good as it is.
But It would be better for the atmosphere to lead
the dialogues from ego perspective.
Other NPCs can still run into the camera
but this isn’t different to real life.
When two people are talking, and a third would like to pass,
but he can’t in due lack of space, he might have to go through between the two.
I think the decision from WH has to do with upcoming Motion Capture Face Animations!?
That was one of the reasons why I wanted the Publisher Version a half year ago

I would like first person dialogues a bit more than the multi camera system that is implemented right now. I know the system is probably not finished, but often the camera angle is less than ideal plus I feel like the views are changed way to often.
After each change it takes me a split second to orientate myself in the scene and in effect it makes the conversation seem less fluid/atmospheric. As for seeing my character I like it in inventory and I also wouldn’t mind having the iconic 3rd person camera option. However I’d prefer simple first person cam in dialogues myself.
Maybe there could be a compromise - having first person view when NPCs are talking and randomly selected view when Henry is talking? Sounds a bit weird, but it could make the conversation a bit more immersive while maintaining the advantages mentioned above by Hellboy?
