Irish Wolfhound or Cesky Fousek! To consider any other breed is preposterous!
Both breeds are ancient and while the Cesky Fousek is local to Bohemia, the Irish Wolfhound was a popular gift among nobles in whole Europe since roman times.
The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog is also interesting but way too young as a breed.

I would love to see both of breeds (IW & CF) in the game. May be you can have a small pack of dogs - all of them different breed 
If the dog talks or otherwise reminds me of Barbas I’m going to cry out of frustration. xD
That would be the better part 
But if it would follow you and body-block you all the time that would drive me to insanity for sure

Going purely historical…It would be Mastiff, Greyhound, Deerhound and Bloodhound.

are there any other “companion” types planned? for instance, hunting falcon or cats? possibly rodents? I think a dog companion would be awesome, but also being able to go hawking or have a house cat waiting for you would be fun. also, there’s obviously the horse, but just how much can you do with the horse? does it get mad at you if you overburden it too often? if you try to constantly run it off a ravine will he fight you when you try to steer? will the horse and dog get along? Since the horse could really outrun the dog, can you lose your dog if you get caught in a fight and have to bail out on your horse at full sprint? so many possibilities, and i can’t wait to check out the alpha and start giving the team feedback. this is easily my most anticipated game of the next year or so.
