Dragon Age Inquisition?!

Who’s going to be getting stuck into Dragon Age Inquisition next month? What race / play style combo are you guys thinking you’ll play as, or most looking forward to? (Really happy they decided to make Qunari playable btw)

Is anybody using (or planning on using) Keep to customise their world state? And if so, what key decisions are you planning on porting over?

It’s a been a while since I last played DA, so I’m pretty hard pressed to remember any key decisions from either of the first two games

General thoughts welcome also

Played DA:O mutliple times (sth like 500+ hours) and loved it. Played DA 2 once and hated so much at it. Still, I can’t really remember the key decisions either.

I would possibly play it after I read some reviews, if I hadn’t sworn to myself two years ago, to not buy another EA published game. The UI looks better for PC as for console, but still not good, imho. I suspect just another, way to fast paced, AAA RPG-Action-Blockbuster. I really doubt that they can go “back to the roots” as in DA:O.

Didn’t mean to spoil the mood

I will play DA:I for sure, not sure I want to pay the insanely high price though so I might wait a while before I actually buy it. I don’t care much for the extras you get with the pre-release bookings for this game. I did that with DA2 and got so disapointed.

However, I think the world in DA:O was way better than in DA2 since DA2 was just the same maps over and over again. But, I liked the story more in DA2 (it suited me better) than in DA:O which I found quite basic. Combat in DA2 was kind of patethic in considering that all fighting consisted of jumping around power attacks or lame ass pot chugging. So hopefully they’ve reworked the combat to be more of DA:O, but hopefully a bit faster since combat in DA:O was painfully slow.

My first playthrough will probably be as a mage, then we’ll see how if I got time for a second playthrough since I’m also awaiting the Witcher 3. I have kept my old saves from DA:O and DA2 so I hope they will have an effect on the storyline.

EDIT: Question is, will there be enough time to play DA:I when I have the Kingdome Come alpha to play around with?

I’m just starting to like Inquisition again after they’ve showed in their latest live stream that they obviously really put some effort in the PC version and controls on PC. It seems that the PC version is indeed well crafted and superior in every given aspect which is a rare thing nowadays so I’m mildly looking forward to Inquisition again. Only sad thing is that you probably can’t use the top down tactical cam for the whole game and only in combat. And of course that the story and characters are typcial Bioware clichés without much complexity or depth. It’s the standard Bioware story pattern with companions bostering the main (super-duper-mega) hero instead of being there for their own right. But hey, that’s what I’ve expected in the first place so there won’t be much disappointment rooted in false expectations… :sunny:

I’ve just replayed Dragon Age Origins and maybe I’ll replay DA 2 before the release of Inquisition as well so I probably don’t need the Keep for any decisions made in the first two games. I even have some old savegames from my first playthrough so that would do the trick as well.

And I plan to play a human warrior/knight like in every other fantasy RPG. That’s my style and I really never change it…

Never been a fan of dragon age, its just not my kind of game i think, I much prefer Skyrim which i still play today, and I’ll be getting the Witcher 3 and AC Unity so they’ll tide me over till more kingdom come is out, as the alpha won’t have too much in it

What’s holding you off?

from what i saw it’s still as bad as the previous one …

It’s Witcher 3 for me, DA2 was probably the worst AAA fantasy title I’ve ever played.

Cannot wait… for Witcher 3. :wolf:

@LordCrash : Warrior / Knight is my usual style as well… but with a game like DA, the hack and slash kinda got a little tiring and repetitive. So I’m thinking I’ll try something different this time around.

Well I’m not sure if I should get the Inquisitor’s edition which seems impossible if you’re European or the Deluxe one. Then the problem is that Warlords of Draenor is getting released in Nov too and my computed sucks like you would not believe. Might hold off Inq until I get a better PC. Then I’m gonna play like I always do the first time I play rpg’s, do the choices I would personally do if I were there. Which is mostly the goodguy ones.

You should probably warn for spoiler there. Unfortunately the spoiler-tag does not work as indended (or is it?).
Anyway, to answer the question: yes

Hack and slash? I plan to play the complete game in tactical view like a classical party CRPG. There won’t be any hack and slash for me…

I’m really looking forward to playing DA:I. I’ve played through the other two a couple of times (back-to-back), once recently just to get me back in the mood and ready for this release:) I must admit, yes I liked the first one better, but I do like the second one too. Different than the first, agreed, but still a good game IMHO!

And I’m also getting really stoked for The Witcher 3, but that’s a little ways off. I’ve basically got a small window of time to enjoy the alpha before these all take my time!

Oh, and if you haven’t already, check out Divinity: Original Sin, it’s superb! A lot of (old school) fun and I’m only 20 hours in and still got lots to do.

If you aren’t afraid to read a lot, you should definately try Wasteland 2

Definately will do, once all this final test stuff is over for me (which will hopefully be in January). Too many games, too little time.

Already finished it

Human/elven mage, Male. Love interest also a mage. I’m looking forward to the story and puzzles ^_^!

I am considering playing in tactical, hopefully fingers crossed there’s more than just extended end game and actual new game + to play through the game again in a different manner.

dragon age inquisition is one of those games that comes along where there is absolutely nothing appealing about it. from the juvenile art design to the crappy static combat, to the utterly atrocious writing. i don’t understand how professional writers working at bioware with masters in english can write something this abysmal

just look at this. from their official ad campaign:

this is the worst writing i’ve ever seen. literally.

True that, I think the alpha willb e something you play for a couple of days and then you’ve done everything until new stuff is released, but you never know. I’ve spent hours just walking around in Skyrim (after heavy modding) looking at how beautiful it became in comparison to the vanilla game.

As for DA:2, the story is better than DA:O but settings are boring since it’s the same maps over and over again. When it comes to Awakening, it feels a bit off since you have to play it after DA:O, I think it would have made more sense if it was something you did before finishing DA:O, more like an expansion rather than a sequel. I don’t think the story really add up there. Although, DA:A is more of a challange than DA:O so you’re probably going to have a good time with it!

As for Mass Effect 1-3, that is one of the best games I’ve ever played but I do agree that the ending was kind of a disappointment. My gaming history starts with the Ultima series, then Hitman and Fallout 1-2, Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and since last X-mas Skyrim (a game I have loathed for so long but actually after some modding was playable).

Yeah, no thanks.

DA:O was meh, everything thereafter was just digging the hole deeper.
