Equipping Polearms

In the game there are many very interesting pole arms. The only problem is… You cant really carry them around. Does anyone knownif the devs plan to implement a system for that? Especialy for fighting on horseback.

Yeah, polearms are a sort of a bummer, especially since lance-armed cavalry (especially knights) were such an iconic element of the era.

I’d also really like to see polearms. Maybe not as a weapon you can carry with you all the time, since it’s very bulky, but as a weapon that you can equip to your horse for use while fighting on horseback. Especially as the sword is downright useless while mounted.

Ive heard that you can mount your horsewith a polearm… You just cant store it…

Yeah I noticed too a bandit had a spear, after killing him I picked it up and couldn’t do much with it. Also, practice more with a longsword on horse back. A short sword is difficult but you’ll get use to it.

If your strength is high enough, they are pretty devastating weapons, quite a bit more powerful than swords are. I easily cleared the Cuman camp in the north with a halberd. The catch is there is no way to store them properly, either on your horse or in one of your rooms (mine always shoot up through the ceiling and vanish… apparently Henry can’t manage the task of leaning a spear against the wall), they prevent you from sprinting, and NPC’s accost you like you’re walking around with a drawn sword. “Put that weapon in your belt before a guard sees you!”

Yea thats what i hope they fix in some way…

I agree, polearms are essential (that gameplay mechanic needs improvements):

For example ability to throw spears and then get them, (even for axes too), for now seems Henry cannot save the polearm when you change weapon, he just drop it.

I was really looking forward to polearms, as I wanted one for my main weapon. I would have even been in favor of waiting longer for the game to have them, but I would really love to see them implemented at some point in the future with skills and all.
If nothing else, I would like to see more enemies with them. I am only up to murders’ camp, but I have yet ro see one enemy wielding one.
I heard they have been pretty difficult to put in the game, but I have faith in the Warhorse team. Until then, I suppose I will have to be content with my axe.

You can “farm” them by fast travelling in dangerous areas, like across the top half of the map or the west side from Skallitz to the south. They are oddly rare, though if they were more popular among enemy NPC’s the game difficulty would go up, which might cause players to complain.

because there is already the mod which add them as regular weapon and there is skill lvl bar (hidden) in game already I think it could be in some future patch or something.

there was also a description on what I believe was plate armor that said it has a “couch” on it to hold a lance, if I am not mistaken, so it might be part of a patch, a dlc, or ACTIII

Polearms are also devastating when you are facing them, if with my shield, if you didn’t do a perfect block the bandit killed you with one combo…and it happened to me a few times. I found the best way to deal with those guys was a bow and better piercing arrows. They have no shield, so when they are running at you, and once they are close enough its hard to miss, hitting them will make them stagger then another arrow to center mass should put them down. But those weapons do crazyyy damage

The most distressing thing about the polearms in the game is that historically they were the most common and most tactically flexible weapon. More than swords. More than axes. More than bows. Certainly more than maces. And yet they’re the rarest and most useless weapon in game at the moment.

I think it’s because they are kinda bugged and also a tad op.

I think you’re right. I expect they’ll be a focus of a major patch down the road, or - gods forbid - a paid DLC.

I managed to store one in my inventory, but there’s no equip nor move to horse option, just drop which is the only way to use in-game.

Just drop and then equip it from the ground.

What’s weird is some of the people you talk to will have generic comments about jousting competitions.
