Equipping Polearms

Fair point, but you’d imagine a guy that PREFERS a giant club to a sword would likely get himself a new giant club =)

It depends on the weapon, both its length and where it’s balanced. The shorter and more centrally balanced, the more likely you are to block between the hands. Long, rear-balanced things as in your example, no, it’s unlikely. But the more shaft you have behind the point of balance, the more advantageous center blocking becomes, as it nicely sets up a riposte with the butt end of your weapon. This is, in fact, one of the standard moves in bayonet and some styles of staff fighting.

The pole arms, like the horse armor, were obviously something that was worked on but abandoned. Perhaps they will be finished in dlc.

Bayonet fighting is totally different from spear fighting. At normal spear range you’d still use rifle’s “shot” rather than its bayonet

I wouldn’t say “totally different”. Different in some ways, yes, but then the same can be said about most other types of polearms. You don’t use a halberd, a quarterstaff, or a bill the same way, either, although they all share a lot of core commonality. And spears themselves came in many sizes and balances, with different amounts of flex in the shaft, and some types of spear were functionally about the same as a musket with a bayonet.

So there’s no such thing as a single “spear” way of doing things, or even a single “polearm” method. There is a common core of basic moves for all of them simply by virtue of holding something long with your hands more or less shoulder width apart straddling the point of balance. But after that, each weapon has its own set of moves based on what combination of sharp and blunt things it has attached to it, how long it is, and where it balances. What works best for 1 type of polearm is often impossible with another.

Of course, but what i’m talking about is the weapons we already have ingame. And the (few) polearms i saw are all in the “longer” cathegory. Maybe i missed the others? Could be so

I could carry a Halberg around, I just could not equip it. They have high damage.

Go to the potion station while carrying the pole arm and it will put it into you inventory, then you can just drop it when ever you want to use it. Also puts it into your inventory when repaired at blacksmith (didnt see this mentioned any where else)

no ammo ur in apocalyptic scenario and down to ur bayonet attacthed. ur enemey combatant is using spear
