Forum performance

I think add 2 MB of SDRAM will solve the problem

Although I like the typical forum software, I would say give this here a try. Because what @masozravapalma said, I would also acknowledge. We are just used to the normal forum software. What I just uncovered for example I really like: The possibility to speak to someone directly via the @ sign. It even shows you a list with possible candidates after tipping one letter so you donā€™t have to type in the whole name. Great!

I think itā€™s a great platform with many possibilities. I find many cool things every day. I hope I managed to balance the performance issues and after we will get additional 4 gigs of RAM it would be much faster.

And you are told someone is speaking about you.
Anyway as @sedrickcz said more RAM will help a lot. Also balancing the settings and categories will go far in the forum readability.

maybe simple background? This paper texture is killing me, I hate it ā€¦ it just makes everything hard to find(like buttons,ā€¦)

@sedrickcz looking forward to the RAM upgradeā€¦
but so far im quite lucky with this forumā€¦

as @YuusouAmazing mentioned, the auto refresh of the content is brilliant for me.

I do not know if it is possible with discourse or not, but adding a poll to a thread would be nice-to-have.

Greetings

my pc and my internet connection is fine, but the forum really needs some work, it took me like 30min. just that my nickname was ā€œconfirmedā€ at the user registration and the pages load like forever

75mbit connection here btw

The only thing I like about this forum is that thereā€™s no need to scroll through pages. Aside from that, I hate it.
I agree with those calling for a move to phbb

Canā€™t agree more, this is a really unfriendly/confusing user experience and the theme certainly doesnā€™t help, would much prefer they switched to any other popular forum software out there already (vbulletin, ipboard, phpbb etc)

Finding the point where Iā€™ve stopped last time is hard,
occasionally topics with new posts donā€™t have any indication that this is the case,
sometimes it seems new posts appear in between two older posts.

Otherwise itā€™s been about okay, though a bit confusing.

The loading times are really slow again, but hopefully that will improve soon. However, I am seeing some weird behavior when refreshing pages. I might first see some new messages appear below the old ones, and only after then the page goes completely blank and loads for a while after which I will see the page again with new messages.

Give it some time lads

Forum was migrated to the new server, the performance should be much better now.

It is so much better nowā€¦ and super fastā€¦

It has gotten better , admittedly.

Itā€™s much better indeed. Thanks :).

I canā€™t post replies to every thread, whatā€™s up with that?

I started using the Discourse a few weeks ago for another community and it does need some time getting used to but it is much better than any other forum out there. This works like a true message board where you will get notifications as soon as someone mentions you in a post, it is very interactive and modern and there are filters that can help you avoid sections you do not wish to visit.

This is the future of forums, better get used to it :stuck_out_tongue:

Very modern forum indeed !
I especially like the semantic behind categories.
Would be nice if users could create sub-categories to tag their threads
