From the ashes....A player review

Hey everyone I’m going to be listing here my review of the new DLC. Please understand these are my personal feelings about the DLC and I look forward to hearing yours.

Like everyone I was excited get this. I didn’t let my thoughts and expectations run away with me. I wanted what the studio said they was doing. A town that I build. My own home. My home base of operations. On hearing the accounts that this would cost up to 300k gr I started a new play through. Getting to the point of entering the massive bandit camp by sassu but not going in. This was done like that so I didn’t cancel any quests either main or side that might affect the new DLC. First step rescue locator…pretty easy and fun to do. But let’s start building. This was fun. No where near the amount of choice I was expecting and hopeful for. But I had hope as sir divish explains that he plains to expand the village once it’s up and running. Do I have a baker or butcher? Well I can’t understand why I can’t have both? Why just one of the other there’s plenty of land.

Let’s move on to MY HOME. Sorry lack of my home. So fully upgraded ratthas I don’t have my own desk I don’t have a office like the locator does. But I do get a bed.if you can find it and you wake up in what seems to be a homeless shelter. Now I understand that most bailiffs lived in there ratthas but at least give me my own room! I think I prefer living in a inn. And this could have been avoided as out side, directly out the front door is a shed that has no clear use. Well why not make that a small house for Henry?

The church…I was expecting a grand stone building. Completely missed the mark. It looks like a old house that someone attached a tree house to.

Total cost to build the complete village is around 150k and it’s pretty enjoyable but the locator is annoying I honestly think if I have to hear his line about someone botching something up again I’ll murder him in his sleep. Game play is about 5-10 hours in the building. You can drag this out but there’s not really much point. Now don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed this DLC but there’s things that let it down. The thing above are forgivable except not having a house maybe. The things I’m going to list I think needs addressing.

This village is ment to be your home base but lacks most of the things I would need. A bath house for starters. A fence to sell to. I was hoping I could offer people a home here like treassa and a miller but nope. And as for the ncps you need well if you want a armorsmith and don’t complete a certain mission a certain way then forget it. You can’t start the rattled quest so you can’t offer a place to a armour Smith…

And 1 more thing I understand normal ncps not addressing me correctly as I know most of them or there friends somehow but if a guard walks into me he should in no way start screaming at me in the street. Total immustion breaker.

Overall the DLC is extremely good. But the end of the quest just reminds me of the main quest and doesn’t fill finished. It’s left me feeling that it’s incomplete. Good, not not quite there. I think this could have been so much more but for some reason wh have stopped themself just a little short of perfect and decided that it will do.

I am disappointed with the DLC for 10 EUR. I expected more Content and Buildings for the village. This feels sadly more like a little free Mod to me.
Also the missing Bathhouse is just essential for a real “Home Base”. So where is it?
And why do I have to decide between the Backery/ Butcher and the Stables/ Guardhouse? Dosen’t make really sense to me. :frowning:
I was also hoping for some Bandit raids or something like that since the village is remote in the forest. But I don’t even “need” to build a Guardhouse so the forest Roads get patrols.
Also It would have been cool to choose a coat of arms for the village and Henry…

Fair points but I understand why there isn’t bandit raids or coat of arms etc. The village isn’t Henry’s. It’s all under sir divish so it will be his coat of arms etc and bandit raids would be a pain to put in as it happens no where else in any village or town in the game that means they would have to create a new game mechanic to achieve this. But yes a bathhouse is a must. I think a butcher is also a must along with a baker. The guardhouse and stables well you don’t need both of them but it’s nice to have them

I will say I’m happy with it for the price. But would have liked it to feel more complete

I know a custom coat of arms doesn’t make that much sense. But Ii would be a nice reward for rebuilding the village for Sir Divish out of Henrys pocket.

No they wouldn’t. Just have some Bandits spawn when you enter the Village or something. And when give me some Quests to get rid of the Bandit Camps in the forest so the attacks will stop.
For me the Village feels just to safe without addressing the possibility of Bandits in the forest.

It really feels incomplete for me.

Building with Marius wasn’t fun for me.
I’m not disappointed with little shed outside. It does its justice but saying you have your own home when you rebuild such nice village and you sleep in that little, not even proper bed? Many people will be pissed.

People don’t get me wrong if building out of my own pocket I want a 32 bedroom castle with indoor running water lol but I was just saying that the little shed could have been made his home on the short term while waiting for the expenstion.

have it but not yet got to it on this current run.
I am disappointed about the home/ office with bed and the building choices.
It would seemed more fun with them. Even at a higher cost in and outa game.

I honestly thought Henry would be able to build his own home after getting the village up and running. Maybe with his own little forge or even a little patch of land to work. Maybe a agreement with sir divish that after 5 years if he done a good job he would stay on but wouldn’t get paid so he can have his own very small for ever home

I have to say I’m perfectly satisfied with this DLC. I’ve put in about 18 hours now (I had to have a short nap) and there is so much to do. There are plenty of bandits in the woods around - just walk around the roads and you’ll bump into them. The new items are great and I love the possibility of drying food. The judgement missions are a nice touch. I’m thinking that this DLC will be even more interesting in hardcore mode because it won’t be possible to just fast travel there and back all the time.

I also appreciate that it is reasonably historically accurate. It’s a village, not a town, so it makes sense that there is no bathhouse. The only thing that slightly bugs me in terms of historical accuracy is that I seem to remember you needed special permission to have a brewery in medieval Bohemia and such honour was generally only bestowed upon towns.

I’ve calculated that Pribyslavitz is best started with at least 26k, which isn’t that much, so it slots in well with the main story economy-wise.

I agree, I also expected that Rathaus to be Henry’s place.

i hope they add some content to the dlc. it would be nice if you could expend your village

I kinda did expect it but was hoping I could build my own little cozy house…as it’s my money building the village

I don’t agree to some points. Bathhouse for instance. The village you build is ment to be your home base. You have the best inn/taven in the game, dedicated gambling room, brewery on site. Your village will attract a lot of travellers and merchants. Many from skalitz, Ronva, rattay and beyond will visit you have a stream/river and a fresh water well. You should have a bath house. A fence to sell to is the other side of the map. Bathhouse is in talmberg (nearest) you need that in your main point of operations. Not only for revenue but as you said bandits etc are everywhere in the forest so you need to be able to heal quick also ad the bailiff you need charisma etc to be high and clean stuff to wear. At the moment I can’t even find a barrel to clean in

Wow. That wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Only read the summary tho as didn’t wanna say tl:dr

Your welcome to say what ever you like as long as it’s not trolling then it’s all good

I’d settle for and closed off office with a full bed and chest in the Rathaus.
Even nicer if have the other buildings.

Agreed. It could have been so much more

not sure i agree. the deliveries are potentially from as far away as Sasau. they are delivered by handcart? the guardhouse is for protection from the Cuman and bandits that infest the adjacent forest. (one ambush point being 1-2 arrow shots from the bridge). the stables are for horse driven carts to push past non-blockaded ambush points and avoid the fate (death) of the vast majority traders I’ve seen at battle spawn points

another building should have been erected or expanded to accommodate the sleeping needs of the extra citizens

not sure why you expected a church that wasn’t a rebuild. and to put some context here, Talmberg itself doesn’t even have this ‘lowly’ investment
