From the ashes....A player review

this would be a really nice add on, and would help break up the monotony

from what I’ve read. and seen. they coulda have done a nice wood refacing of the bell tower.

You mean slots well with the broken game economics
I would like to see some historical case when some village brat sponsored building of the whole village by grinding respawning bandit camps and selling their gear to local merchants or poaching rabbits

Well this is the only thing that annoys me in this DLC and in KC:D in general - broken economy. What’s the point of basic needs, for example, if food costs nothing? And even that grand robbery quest where you steal half-year wages (!) from quarrymen feels like meh
Otherwise Ashes DLC is fine. Complaints like “my church is too small” are just laughable

fair enough. the lack of holy water font and indulgences chest is glaring as is the lack of anything meaningful (so far) from the priest

Hardcore mode fixes some of these things, at least partially. I’ve started a new playline and I’m really enjoying the lack of a compass. I feel tempted to restart it and get more negative perks, especially Somnambulism. The idea of waking up in the middle of the woods and having no idea where I am is delicious.

Talmburg had a private church/chapel in the castle the local one for villages under sir divish would have been the one we rebuilt . I expected a rebuild but I also expected that the wall and grounds would be restored and the wood tower look something better then wood planks rested against the frame work. It’s a church. It’s ment to stand out and be dominating

Talmberg parishioners are expected to go to Pribyslavitz. that doesn’t make sense. St James is easier and closer

yeah, the wooden finish is underwhelming but as far as the church itself is concerned it’s better than the one next to the upper castle in Rattay.

i get the desire to create a Dragon Age Inquisiton-like mural to record your exploits but find it a little too secular… if there are medieval churches with such for non-royals (non-ennobled), i’ll reconsider

Hmmm… Sadly this DLC seems rather light and, from comments that I’ve read about it, I’m not sure it’s worth £8.
I know that’s not a lot of money but if it’s not really adding much content, why bother?
I’ll stick it on the ‘Wishlist’ and wait a while.

I think it’s totally worth the money. I’m getting the impression that the people who don’t like it haven’t actually taken the time to properly explore it. It offers lots of new items, for example, but you’re not actually told what they are - you need to find out for yourself.

Yeah many people just loaded their old saves with tons of money, built everything and “ha, done”

it’s definitely worth it. with some enhancements though, it could provoke many, many hours beyond the 5-10 i’ve heard from Tobi, etc

with some tweaks, this could be amazing

Exactly. In the end, I used a save file from just before All that Glisters from my “goodie Henry” playline because he doesn’t loot corpses (except for unique items, etc.). I wanted money to be a challenge. Henry had 20k when I started rebuilding, which was almost enough to make it pay its way but I still had to go make some more money before I could afford the forge. I think that’s what was intended - with any less money, you’re constantly under pressure to fund it (looking forward to it with my hardcore Henry) but with too much money you just end up repeatedly clicking “Let’s build” and then understandably things become a little boring.

My village was completely haunted with arrows everywhere in the air. I found the Locator’s never-changing speech tiresome. I opted for a Butcher, but the mini chaos as Baliff was all about flour not making it to the town for the BAKERY. Wish I could have directed the placement of buildings. Wish there had been mini-quests - like go find a church painter, or water gatherers…just wanted to talk to anyone…anybody. The DLC promised “Being a Baliff isn’t easy”… P’shaw. I guess I wanted a moment where I could have died or failed.

It’s what I do. But I ran out of funds, so I’m actually looking for more while being ambushed by bandits, so game ia still active even I finished it ten hours ago. I have 2ns walkthrough on hardcore and I think Ashes DLC will really prosper for that 2nd one.

It’s actually very easy. Solving local troubles is simple and the expenses are counted in the book. They just misled me and others. But I see how prosperous it can be for somebody who doesn’t have it all.

I understand your overall disappointment and henry, being the Bailiff and all should have had his own desk at least but I have to disagree with the bed situation.
Before the rathaus upgrade, Henry didn’t even have his trunk with access to his stuff, that was bad.
After the last upgrade though, the rooms upstairs with the multiple beds and with his trunk, although not a private bedroom, for sure, I actually found pretty nice.

Even a Sergeant in a barracks gets his own room away from recruits. this is the same situation.
Something I know very well and 49 of my roommates did too.

pribyslavitz a small village so you cant have both stable and guardhouse or bakery butcher there are no enough village area.also you cant choose village guards coat of arms you are not lord just bailiff in service of divish.they are talmberg garrison.

i am only disappointed point is building by henry’s own money and villagers and guards says me that “hey henry how are you” i was expected that saying is “greetings master bailiff”

No wonder they call Henry by his first name when he spends all his time boozing with them and robbing them of their coin at dice.
