I’ve only made it through the first hour of the game, but most of the cutscenes are missing and most NPCs don’t have faces or voices. Any word on an update or patch in the near future?
what Platform? what patch are you on?
Where did you get it from?
did you try deleting game and a fresh install?
Sounds like your game is corrupted from the source. Just my guess.
I’m on Xbox One S. I have not tried deleting and reinstalling yet. I’m on the latest patch.
Had similar issues on ps4 NPCs missing faces or bits of clothing, eventually they pop in. It’s not been bad this evening though.
This issue was fixed in the latest patch.
Nope. It was doing it earlier today after I installed and started a new game.
Dunno what to tell you man. Tons of people are playing fine on the same console so I don’t know what the problem could be.
@jordan161 -
The reason people often suggest delete and reinstall is: it may remove some game fragmentation.
When we download ‘latest patch’ it can create less than optimal use scenario.
deleting game install (not saves) and then downloading latest full build is worth doing.
in future - patches applied to present game build (1.4.3) might have vastly less issues… it may depend on a few factors (eg size of patch/what patch contains)… I believe 1.4.3 is the new baseline for the game and is a great place to start.
Attatched is a graphic I created back when the masses would flood the forums insisting that the problem isn’t ‘on their end’ but with WarHorse and is soley for them to fix.
As I said then and is still true now;
Patches and updates can fix the game if it doesnt work.
As the game works on many systems- we need look at the differences between users systems (consoles) that change the formula.
The things most likely are
A) an overheating console. Eg sits on carpet/near floor and is filled with dust.
B) fragmented drive
C) (sony side of coin) replaced drive and replacement has non standard platter sizes for what sony are expecting eg 333Gb per platter rather than 250Gb per platter
C isnt the biggest group- but will have major issues. Sony puts aside some cache space on the outside of the platter (fastest read and access times) for games to use. Non standard platters would have data in unoptimal drive location and leave the playstation ‘out of spec’ /not up to speed
D) maybe a possibility on xbox side of coin; not sure about requirements of usb connected external storage; if games are allowed to be installed there- wpuld be a huge issue. Otherwise I’d cite differences between one and one s…
Anyhow A (overheating) is easy to test for, so B becomes the unsorted bugbear for the remaining people (the masses)
Fragmentation is guaranteed to happen when a game has several 20+Gb patches
Also -games typically being towards 40Gb in size and consoles only holding less than twenty games, perhaps users assist with fragmentation by deleting programs to ‘make space’
Whilst I have been shot down for trying to aid gamers with fragmentation issues- Ive also been chewed out by angry consolers telling me to butt out.
At the end of the day- a remotely located softwarw studio (or even one on your same street) isnt going tosend a tech around to your place tofix your system.
Fragmentation is something users will have to sort out (rebuilding the database is NOT a defrag)
Yes you have fifty other games and none of them have issues so the problem is KCD and not your system (I wont argue with YOU) but for anyone who wants to get to the bottom of why only some consoles have issues…
(Its fragmented data slowing down your drives ability to deliver game data)

Typical console drive for gamers with issues streaming graphics in KCD
Given I have written extensively on this in the past (and been asked to shut up about it from whingers) I will leave it at that.
OP is welcomed to PM me.
As the photos didnt workout in the post above; here is a thread created by me that highlights how anyversion of the game can play better or worse than another (it was a defense people actually gave - eg it worked fine on 1.2 and not now so the issue isnt my system)
KCD is a fairly rare title that uses streaming assets.
To date it is the best attempt at high quality asset streaming I have ever seen (to be fair I dont play GrandTheftAuto).
Yes this game pushes harder than most that have come before.
When it works it is stunning.
Many gamers claim to have no issues- so saying ‘someone elses copy is broken’ (its the game) isnt always the best defence. (Maybe their system is less than optimal too)
Yes- I know the game has issues- my rosey coloured glasses are NOT on my face…
As a (technical) support worker drive fragmentation is the first place to start- MAKE THE GAME RUN OPTIMALLY.
Appreciated. The problem was solved. Just needed to delete then reinstall the game twice.
